Keep the community in your thoughts and prayers as they survey the damage and get rescue efforts underway.

Mayfield was hit directly by a large tornado and there is massive amounts of destruction.

Prayers to our neighbors to the South.

Going to be bad to see in morning when can see all the damage clearly.

Looks like more storms in that area tonight.  Hopefully the worst is behind them.

I hate to hear this. My thoughts are with the people of Mayfield tonight.

Reports coming from Mayfield are very bad. By one account downtown was virtually flattened. Surrounding areas have been hit hard also.

Below is before and after Graves County Courthouse.

Dear Lord, please be with our fellow Kentuckians in Mayfield and other storm damaged areas.

I’m just gutted to hear this. And frankly, slightly scared myself in Bowling Green.

@Spann Can we all say "Long-track tornado?" From Matt McClain, a media friend of mine in the Paducah, KY market... "Mayfield KY.  This tornado was on the ground in Little Rock, Arkansas and remains on the ground all the way to Kentucky."

I’ve read books about the 1925 Tri-State tornado - the longest track on record - and apparently this one may have surpassed it.
