I guessing 2 baskets and a foul shot or possibly a 3 and a 2 point basket.

 

5 is a low score but the 61 is a lot less than St. Francis normally gives up for what that is worth. Ludlow is a decent team and St. Francis has been getting crushed by every regular high school team.

That's what I was thinking, that is ridiculous. I sure hope that the coach of the winning team did everything in their power to hold the score down.

This score could have been ALOT worse. Coach Stamm of Ludlow is a class act. But in a situation like this there is not much you can do. Ludlow backed off on its defense alot more in the second half, but it is not their fault that the other team couldn't score. Then on the offensive end what are you suppose to do, its not like you can just pass it to other team. You still got to try to score. If this game was like 100 to 5 then I could see if people said anything about the coach. But this is just a game where as a coach there is not much you can do when the other team just ends up being not that good...

St. Francis has won two games- one over Beth Haven. The KHSAA site indicates that Beth Haven lost to Louisville Holy Cross 68-03 erlier in the season. LHC is the same school that had an irate and vocal representative at last year's Class A tournament whining, cursing, and complaining that another Class A school had "run up" the score on his girls in a first round game. I suppose it all depends on who is on the upper end of the score.

 

I'll bet the publics don't have St. Francis in mind when they sing their song about that "level playing field".

I think you have to look at how many points St. Francis scored, not how many were scored against them. The lowest number of points they've scored this season is 21 against Nelson County. Sounds like Ludlow played them tough on defense the whole game.

I guarntee you they were not playing as hard on defense as they would have if it was close game. But once again what are you suppose to do in that situation. You can't just tell the girls on your team to just not guard them at all and let them go by you. If anything that would probably make the other team mad because no team wants something just handed to them. And before you say they could have just played zone because that would allow some open shots from the outside, the other team still would have to make the shots. There is not much you can do when the other team just can not put the ball in the basket. Ludlow is a team that gets alot of steals and if they were playing tough defense on them the whole game Ludlow would have scored alot more than just 61 points, because they would have got alot of easy layups off steals...
