Cincinnati 27 Navy 20

Unfortunately, this maybe what the CFP committee uses to keep them out of the top 4 and make it a major up-hill battle for UC to make the final 4.

  • Exactly. This is why I’m so excited for the expanded playoffs. Currently, a team like UC needs to not only win every game, but apparently cover the spread also. It was an ugly win, but still

UC was a 28 point favorite, they need decisive wins.  A big win over an overrated ND team isn’t an automatic bid.  The talking heads are gonna pile on this week.

It's one week... This stuff happens. Let's not ignore the other 6 weeks where they've won by double digits.

Ohio St struggled with Tulsa.

Oklahoma struggled with Kansas and Tulane.

Iowa lost to Purdue.

Penn State is in OT with Illinois.

Georgia is the only team that has dominated all 7 weeks.

At this point it’s definitely Georgia’s to lose.  The other 3 teams are just hoping to give it their best shot and hope for an upset.  Georgia being built the way they are, keeps thing interesting because they’re not offensively oriented.

The OSU offense and the Georgia defense is the definition of perfection.

It seems that this year things are kinda wide open. I know Georgia is great of defense but I'm not sure that's enough.  This would be a great year for an 8 team playoff IMO.

To beat FunnyMaine to the punch, "Stuggle...Win!"

When you have several teams with similar resumes, the eye test will be the deciding factor. OU and Cincy failed that today.

I like Funny Maine almost as much as I like SEC Shorts.

I don't think we have seen Georgia at their best though... That offense is way different when they have Pickens and JT Daniels.

FWIW... Navy has seemed to play up or down to the level of their competition.

Beat UCF 34-30.

Lost to Houston 28-20.

Lost to #21 SMU 31-24.

Lost to #2 UC 27-20.

Lost by 18, 20, and 42 to Memphis, Air Force, and Marshall.

Game changed yesterday when UC was up 27-10 in the 4th quarter and driving in Navy territory. 2nd and 2 and their next two plays are a 2 yard loss and 3 yard loss with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty added that has them punting from their own 40. Never seemed to get back on track after that when they had a chance to really put the game away with a score on that possession.

Agreed. And their defense puts them in a lot of short fields.  They just don't WOW you.

I think they're more explosive than they get credit for but agree they don't WOW you.
