H. S. Sports ^ Yeah, if CCH and Highlands don't play up 2 and 3 levels than they're ducking good teams. That's the ticket.

Who are they ducking if they play up?

Why should two teams with 400 - 500 boys be expected to compete with teams with 3 times that many kids? That is ludicrous.

I would put their schedules over the past few years against anyone elses in the state. They have played great competition and I'm sure will continue to do so.

I agree. But you had a post on 11/25 in the 3A Championship thread stating "you would love to see the winner (CCH) against Trinity". Why make such a statement, isn't that ludicrous? ;)

Trinity will be in a rebuilding year. New QB, need 1/2 OL, only 3 returning starters on defense. X should get the nod......

I take it that you truly believe in the statement that you have made!!! I just wonder how many people outside of the Trinity faithful, feel your pain and agree with your outlook for 2007.

Don't count Ryle out they'll be in the hunt huge senior class in the 07 season.

Stating that one would like to see a game between 2 exceptional teams, doesn't imply that CCH should've moved up to 6A. I wouldn't have minded seeing that game myself. I think it would have been a classic.

Classic, maybe? These games aren't played for reasons, but if they were in the same class, then there would be a reason at the end of the season. Happy holidays....it's almost time to party. :dancingpa

And Happy Holidays to you as well. I get to be the "DD" all year long.

With all due respect, Jeter and Minnifield made up 90% of their offense. Boyd will be a threat. You are right about the HC's defense.

I would love to see the BIG name schools jump up to 6A, especially those NKY teams who think they can complete with the larger schools. But, they will stay content remaining in 4 or 5A.

This is a total misconception about Henry Clay in 2006. Clark Jeter and Chase Minnifield were outstanding players for the Devils, but I think Henry Clay will be better next year. I know statistics are misleading sometimes, but it makes a point here.

Lost

Clark Jeter caught 74 passes for 1089 yards (18TDS).

Chase Minnifield ran for 458 yards (8TDS), passed for 365 yards (3 TDS),

and caught 48 balls for 630 yards (9TDS).

Returning

Ryan Phillippi ran for 587 yards (8 TDS), threw for 2483 yards (32 TDS).

Dontey Gay ran for 1022 yards (10TDS), caught 26 balls for 288 yards (5

TDS).

Aaron Boyd caught 53 balls for 691 yards (5 TDS).

These three juniors accounted for over 5000 yards and 60 TDS! Jeter and Minnifield accounted for 2500 yards and 38 TDS. Hardly 90% of the offense. The Blue Devils entire offensive line is back.

They will be better in 2007! The question is: Can they be Big Three good? Maybe.

The fact that I think it would have been a good game THIS year doesn't mean I believe for one second that CCH could compete with Trinity and St. X on a year-in year-out basis. So no, I don't think the two things are the same whatsoever. Expecting CCH and HHS to play that far up and accusing them of being "content" to not do it is a bit much IMHO.

PRP will be very good lots of returning starters,

X always look good at freshman level then falls short of everyone expectations could be the varsity coaching

Male looses alot of seniors this year and the tank appears pretty empty for a couple of years.

Trinity will struggle early because of the loss of Petrino at QB

Could be the year of LExington teams!!

????? 2006 X Senior record as freshmen (2003):6-4. Losses to Holy Cross and Boyle County freshmen. Blowout losses to Male and T freshmen. As seniors, rated in top 5 in state by computer and polls, much of season in top 3.??????

I think Nelson County has the chance to be a very good team in 2007. Even though they were only 3-8 this past year, they were highly competetive in every game, and lost to some very good teams. They return almost everybody, including an exciting quarterback, Jordan Keene, an electric tailback, D'Sean Patterson, a 1,000 yard fullback, Devin Boone, 4 of 5 offensive lineman, and 2 quality TE's. Coach Bruner has done an outstanding job of preparing this program and they look forward to good things in '07.

Just based on recent history, Jefferson County schools should be favored. Two time defending champion Trinity has a lot coming back. X has solid and deep talent. Male may be a bit off their high srandards. Manual looked better than expected this year and could be a contender. I keep missing on this prediction: PRP has a lot of athletes, a lot of male students, and is very well coached.

He is one of the outstanding coaches in the state, and a breakout this year will end his flying under the radar.

I know in 2005 Butler had a real solid group of frosh. I think they may shock some folks in 2007!
