What are you talking about? We have played the Ohio D-1 teams before, and are playing Cincy X next season, at X......who should we play, Union, College?

I don't think he was saying that X or T duck the Cincy powers. I think he was questioning why they schedule the Cincy powers but not T and X. Hence the question, "are T and X playing that far up (assuming above) the Ohio teams?"

 

And as a parting gift, maybe you guys should play Union College rather than Highlands or CovCath. Your certainly closer in enrollment, facilities, etc. to Union than those two "small" schools.

This question is for the CC and Highlands folks...He claimed that CC could play with Trinity this year but would be playing up to much to compete yr in and yr out and my question was why do you feel its playing up to much to play T or X but doesnt feel that way when its Elder or Cincy St X...

Seriously, they have a school full of talented athletes, just like Male...more so than any other public school in the county, IMO....Catlett has to get those kids believing in themselves FIRST, then believing in his system, and special things will happen....Those Ballard teams in the early 90's that gave us fits, had the same type of kids that the school has now, they just knew they could compete, these kids know they can't.

I have enjoyed reading this thread today, the last day of 2006! The 07 Season can't come soon enough for me. I would say Trinity is the favorite in 6A with St.X, Henry Clay and Male close behind, in that order. T has a lot of starters coming back and the skilled positions are full of speed. I am sure the skeptics are questioning the QB spot. Beatty/Coverdale have a proven system that works and Will Stein will do just fine! Happy New Year to all BGP's and GO ROCKS!!!

Ballard has the majority of their team returning next season...they lose one on the OL...and two Rec's...Defensively they lose 3(LB'ers)...Coach Catlett just goes about doing his job...that of preparing these young men for life...he's not a rah-rah type...not bad though...he's never never had a losing season...his worst year being back to back 6-5 seasons in 2000-01...yet he doesn't get some much deserved credit..just criticism..in a very tough enviroment that is Ballard HS...but he does it the right way.

Just curious, why do you think caoching at Ballard is a tough environment? I have always thought of Ballard as one of the better jobs in Jefferson County.

I agree Terp...it is a prime coaching position...but tough because no coaches in the bldg...highest academic standards in the county...and even though there are athletes...they don't all choose to play football...Coach Catlett is constantly talking to athletes in the bldg...the big thing is that all sports programs at Ballard are pretty competitive and successful and the kids feel they will lose an edge if they are not with their "major" sport...i.e. Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, Lacrosse...so the pool is really not that large...even at that Catlett will have the Bruins Competitive...as he is a very "attention to detail" coach. I have long been a fan of his and especially when it comes to offensive football...they have a strong team coming back next season...they need to get over the hump vs. the Shamrocks...which will be very tough...and the Male series has to get back to the way it was 3 years ago...most programs would be happy to go 7-3, 8-2...regular season...not so at Ballard...tremendous pressure there to be successful.
