That loss is on Zac Taylor. Playing for a 50 yard+ field goal is just dumb. I agree no doubt McPherson has the leg from 60 yards in but the longer it is, the more risk. At least try to get first downs instead of run, run, run then field goal from 50+ yards.

Well that sucked!

I seen some people complaining on Twitter that the Bengals should have went for it on the 4th and 1 instead of kicking a 49 yard field goal to win it. People also said they should have went for it instead of kicking the 57 yarder at the end of the 4th quarter. In both cases you absolutely have to kick the field goal there on 4th down. The issue was being so dang conservative on the third down plays before that.

Then another issue was also being conservative twice earlier in the game, when they punted twice in Packers territory. Instead of kicking 57 yard field goals. If you are going to trust your kicker at the end of the game to make a 57 yarder with a lot more pressure on him. Then you should be able to trust him earlier in the game.

Even when Taylor went for it on 4th down that back fired against the Vikings earlier this year. I 100% of the time would rather him coach aggressive than being conservative. Which he was conservative this whole game. Very frustrating.

A field goal attempt of 50 or more yards in the NFL has about a 60% chance of being good. I would not play for a field goal by any kicker longer than 40 yards. Even inside 40 yarder range, I would run my offense and try for first downs and even a TD versus run 3 times and kick a field goal.

I agree. Stay aggressive on offense. If you get stopped, then you have no choice but try the long field goal. But don't get conservative and run, run run with the fall back plan to kick the long field goal. You are helping the defense and your opponent with that strategy.

Either side could have won it a couple of times over.

Maybe they’ll stink it up the rest of the way, but I like what I’ve seen so far. Two plays from. being 5-0.

I heard on the Bengals post game show that Burrow was taken to the hospital after the game. I was in my car and did not catch what for. I hope it is an observation type precaution measure. I just saw that it is got a throat injury.

Did anyone see McPherson after the missed 49 yard FG I think he thought he had made it and jumped into the arms of a lineman celebrating. That will probably be on the blooper videos.

One can say that it was such a Bengal way to lose, but the Packers darn near lost the same way.   So it was just bad breaks on both sides.   GB just had one less one.

Yes to everything you said.

Pretty much yes to everything everyone had to say.

As frustrating as it was I enjoyed the game.  I know we have a fun thread with Rodgers but I watch him so much it was like watching two of my teams play today and I am programmed that Rodgers will pull it out.  Congrats to the Pack.

Who Dey!

On to Detroit.

Both long field goals the Bengals set McPherson up on the wrong hash mark.  If you are going to run on third, set that ball up in the middle of the field.  It would have been good from there. Right foot kicker has a little draw and should always make from right hash or the middle.
