Coach Kevin Wallace confirmed six starters – including the entire line in the Tigers’ 3-4 alignment – are out and may not return until October. LB Eli Monks will return Friday. Male Selah Brown probable to play Friday.

St. X defense will look much different between now and October.

The good news is only a possible rematch matters.

Freshman update. St. X 21-8 at halftime.

  • I like the way X has performed in their first 2 games!  It's a shame that their defense is so riddled with injuries.  I do think the Tigers will give Male a hell of a game, but I suspect it may not be

  • I think Male will move the ball and score - but I think St. X can slow it down with their run/pass mix.  The big WR for X is a tough matchup and I know Male has a ton of matchup problems.  X needs to

In the words of Dickie V, he’s a stat sheet stuffer.

End of 3Q. St. X 28-14.

The size and speed of the Male WRs will be a problem for the young inexperienced STX CBs. STX will keep it close but the athletes Male has will be the difference. Male 35-24.

How come they didn't play in 2008? I can't remember the reason.

Sorry LTR, I don't have an answer for that one. I'd be just as interested to know about the four year hiatus from '77-'80.

Hurricane Ike

This is may be my favorite weekend of the year! High school football is in full swing and college football gets rockin' and rollin'! Good luck to the Tigers tonight in what will be a great atmosphere for high school football.

This would be a tough game for the Tigers even at full health. I'm still going with the Tigers in a classic showdown; Male scores a TD late in the 4th quarter to take the lead 31-28. Jack Sivori leads a final drive for the Tigers and caps off the drive with a last second TD pass to Duddy to propel the Tigers to an early season win over the #1 team 34-31!

Go Tigers!

It may be a bold prediction, but I could see a running clock in the game tonight. Just too many injuries for X.

Yeah, I'm a little worried a version of the regular season matchup from '19 could happen. But that game got out of hand early because of back to back possessions with turnovers by the St. X offense, which could always happen.

I'll be surprised if a running clock. My personal computer rating shows Male by 14 but data not as good this early in season. Calpreps rating says similar. Would be great to win it but I know if play again in playoffs that X defense should be much better barring no more injuries.

In 2008 there was a wind storm that knocked out power in the city for about a week. A lot of games had to be cancelled. IIRC Trinity moved their game with Cincinnati STX from their home field to Cardinal Stadium.

I remember that. One of busiest days I've ever had working for fire dept. Crazy wind!
