What a great thing to be back in the stands full throttle at the pit..we knew Elder would be a game..I honestly thought it would have been a little closer though.  Guys came out flat.  Realizing it's the first game, we can pick it apart, because there was as much good as there was bad.   This team needs to gel..become a team.  We need all guys back and get buy in from each and every one of them.  We need guys that want and will block up front, guys to fill the right gaps, secondary to stop big plays, backs to run hard not give up.  The QB situation was first night jitters, there is options there, and things will get better.

We focus now on Belfry.

"came out flat" very, very seldom happens IMO. I don't believe in it. I really don't believe it when it is opening night and you are playing a team that you know is going to be a battle. Playing Elder at The Pit on opening night - zero chance CCH came out flat.

When a team faces a clearly better opponent and has some struggles, they didn't come out flat. They gave it all they had. They just weren't as good as the other team. The only time I think that term has been true IMO is when you are clearly better than the other team and don't put out the effort you need to in every game, regardless of opponent.

  • I thought the defensive staff got worked in the first half. Elder ran a bunch of unbalanced and we didn't adjust and were outnumbered when they would throw bubble screens. Credit to Elder, they made u

  • Offensively I'd like to think it would have been a little different with Zion and Benke playing. We need more playmakers on offense to along with Agee and I thought Hummel did some good things tonight

I don't believe in it either VOR-I think he is just referring to a couple of hikes that went past Holtz that led to 2nd and 28 or whatever it was-one was a drive killer and the other was the first play of the season, and a couple of kicks that were a little rough to watch. Although it is hard to admit, some of these guys that have never started before just had butterflies because of the environment. They will be fine for next week.

I am with you here VoR, Elder was just better than CCH, not by a lot, but by enough to make CCH look bad at times.

Ditto the comment above about the offense being like last year.   The defense was good except two bigger plays. Better QB and this could have been a toss up because The D held up pretty good, a few more first downs and one score on the possessions inside the five and this is a one score game near the end.    It’s not disrespectful to lose but believe the teams were not lopsided.

The QB draws just look like Eddie doesn’t trust them to run the offense they did in 17-19.

Yeah we came out “flat” because their skill players are much more talented than our guys. Ramsey, #4 (running back) and #1 (corner) are really good to elite players. It also didn’t help that we didn’t line up correctly for a half on defense.

The good news is Elder is the best team we’ll play in the regular season and I expect us to get better as the season goes on.

I'm not saying if the Colonels were flat or not, I don't think they were. But I do find it interesting the Bowling Green coach was quoted as saying his team wasn't ready to play the game against Highlands. Probably best for another thread though.
