I don't frequent the place, but I do live right down the road and I've noticed it seems to be closed every Monday now.   Does anyone know why?  Is it a staffing or cost cutting issue?

Staffing issue.

The Cold Spring location is also closed on Mondays due to staffing issues as well.

Many nicer restaurants are closed on Mondays. The staffing issue however, is real. Monday is my one day in the office every week, and yesterday we tried 4 different places in Downtown Cincinnati before we found one that was open.

From restaurants, to airlines, to any other service or entertainment industry, we must lower our bar when it comes to service until thing (hopefully) stabilize.

A lot of breweries are usually closed on Mondays, even long before COVID-19.

I'm sure staffing issues is the main cause when someone asks, but is the root of that, people just aren't going out to eat and drink as much on Mondays, so those that primarily make money on tips don't want to work on Mondays?  So staffing issue, but also lack of business on Mondays is probably the main cause.

I'm sure less people have been going out over the last year, and since waitstaff primarily gets paid by tips, it's not hard to understand why many haven't or aren't coming back to or have left the industry.

We have restaurants begging for staff down here. We went to a Carrabba's on a Saturday night a several weeks ago and they had half of the restaurant closed off and  a hoard of customers waiting for tables. They simply did not have enough servers, bus people, and cooks to service more than what tables they had open. Even then, they were asking for patience due to being short handed.

St. Patrick's day was worse. We were at the Lucky Dill, an Irish Pub/Deli in Clearwater, and half of their staff had called off that day. The place was packed and they only had 4 servers and 1 cook (an owner) working the entire restaurant. This place is not small, either. They had no bus people, that day.

I frequent a breakfast/lunch place called Ellie's. Mike, the owner and a cook, has told me stories of how he has hired staff, only to have them not show up the first day. He's lucky in that his son is a cook, his wife bakes, and his daughters wait tables, or he would not have been able to stay open.

Is the Brown Boxer still open down there?  They used to host a Bengals watch party on Sundays.

There are 2 of them. One on North Clearwater Beach and One on South Clearwater Beach near Sand Key. I think the South Beach Boxer is the older of the 2, but I've only been by that one, never in it. I was in the North Beach Boxer about a year or so ago, just after spring break.
