June 18, 20215 yr Just a tough loss that hopefully doesn’t steamroll them for the remainder of the road trip. Cannot win them all, but hate to lose games like this one.

In fact, the way they came back in the 9th boosts their belief in themselves. If they lose the next 3 it won't be because of this loss.
June 18, 20215 yr Author One more thought. If I were a big league manager I would make it known loud and clear to my relief corps that if you come into an inning and walk the leadoff batter, you will not be on my team very long. Before they went to this 3 batter rule, I would have told my relievers be prepared to face only one batter if you walk the lead off hitter.
June 18, 20215 yr I guess Garrett will now incite another benches clearing brawl. So we will all talk about that instead of the fact that he can't hold a lead while he's on the mound.

June 18, 20215 yr Garret had had the last 4 or 5 outings without giving up a run. His confidence was as high as it has been all season and Bell just contributed by not starting him in the inning and then of course the result. Garrett pitch was not that all bad but bad result.
June 18, 20215 yr everyone knows my feelings on Votto but he had played the last five years like he has recently, Reds would have more wins and maybe playoff appearances.

He actually played better in some of those previous last 5 years than he is now. And he is not much better so far this year than he has been the past couple seasons. He had a better OBP and OPS last year than what he has now. Power is better the last couple years versus 18 and 19.

June 19, 20215 yr Author With wins in the first two games, the Padres push their rotation back a day and will start reliever Diaz tonight. Gutierrez goes for the Reds. The Reds need to win this one.
