Reds at Padres (6/17 - 6/20)

Featured Replies

This is where the rubber hits the road. If the Reds can grind through this series on the west coast with a 2-2 split, I will consider it good news. If they manage 3 wins, Reds mania hits the tri-state.

Miley vs. Musgrove today to get it started.

I give the Padres the advantage in every pitching matchup in the 4 game series.

Padres coming off getting swept in Colorado.

I wonder if Padres fans are screaming bloody murder like Reds fans would.

Wow! Reds smoke the best closer in the NL!

Votto lead off single. Suarez good at bat but strikes out swinging on a full count. Barnhart battles back from 0-2 count to get a full count double. Farmer ground ball up the middle makes it 2-1. Stephenson pinch huts, falls behind 0-2, battles to full count and delivers a two out game tieing single. India hits the next pitch out of the balk park. Reds lead 4-2.

Welp. All for naught. Hendrix walks the first batter on 4 pitches. Then gives up a 2 run HR to Hosmer. Tie game.

There is nothing that irritates me more than pitcher who is afraid to throw strikes. I would rather that leadoff guy in the 9th hit a HR than a walk. At least they earn it that way.

Just do not understand AT ALL letting Machado steal 2nd??!!!  Took all the pressure of a double play off of Hosmer, bad managing right there in my opinion.

As they say, walks will haunt.  No business having a rookie pitching the 9th.

Who should have been out there?

There is your veteran reliever. Garrett comes in. Single. HR on an 0-2 count. Reds lose 6-4.

Can Lucas Sims not pitch the 9th or was he unavailable?

Maybe if he starts the inning it does not happen at all, think that could have happened?

Sims not available tonight.

Was that posted somewhere that I did not see?  I would have gone with Garrett to start the inning and took my chances rather than putting a rookie out there looking for first save against a top notch squad.

He came in with the bases empty, tie game.
