Aaron Rodgers - Doesn't want to be a Packer anymore?

Now we find out today, that Schefter sat on the story and decided to release it on draft day.  It was a freakin' PR piece for ESPN!  They wanted everyone there at the draft saying "Adam Schefter/ESPN reporting that..."  Everybody got played.

Schefter was on the Dan Patrick Show and said this was just an accumulation of information that'd been gathered since the end of last year.  There was nothing new...no phone call, no text, nothing...that came out that day.  He just decided that "it was going to get out there sometime, so why not release it now?"

Nobody got played. This was a strategic release by team Rodgers. Shefter has what he "released," but there were other sources reporting other tidbits of information... coincidentally the same day. He wanted upheaval on draft day and got it.

I'm still confused what Rodgers' gripe is in all of this, but whatever. They drafted Jordan Love? Aaron had a tremendous last season, but you can't ignore the chinks in his armor (both play and injury history) the previous few years. You can save me the stats, I'm going on eye test. They haven't drafted "weapons" in the first round? Don't get caught up on who teams draft in what rounds, get caught up in how they produce. Davante Adams is an all pro talent, Aaron Jones is not far behind that level. The big issue in years previous was the lack of defensive support, which the Packers have tried to shore up. And what do you know they've made two straight NFC title games (both games Rodgers was underwhelming).

Are you kidding me?  Rodgers was roasted over this, due to the timing of it.  Trying to take attention away from the draft, blah, blah, blah.  I never like to deal with absolutes, but dang, this is almost as close as I can get to a sure thing that Rodgers did not "release" this.  If anybody wanted upheaval on draft day and got it, it was Schefter.

Watch the segment with Dan Patrick.  And more importantly, listen to Dan's responses.  I can only imagine him sitting there thinking "WTH?  Nothing new came in?  But, you HAD to release it right then?"

It didn't want to let me insert the link in the previous post.

All fair things in your post but I wanted to pull out just this part and mentioned that if I rememeber right, in the last 3 Packers losses, they have allowed an average of 36-37 points scored.  Hard to beat teams in the playoffs when you're giving up that many.

I think this is largely about what these things are always about - money. The Packers need to renegotiate his contract and show a commitment to him. That will solve everything.

I think you're spot on.  He wants his contract extended another 3 or so years so that he's lock in until he's like 43.

And Dan Patrick of all people is smart enough to know how the evil empire of ESPN works.

I watched it and hear what you are saying. But Dan is from the bygone days of true journalism when you actually break and report on news items. Shefter is not in that game. He is part of the new age where you play this puppet media game in exchange for info (and retweets) and I think Dan was more so scoffing at that - between the lines - than anything else. The timing of the broken news was irrelevant, until you consider Rodgers' history with draft nights. Last year being no exception when the Packers drafted Love without his consultation.

Now maybe Schefter is the mastermind of it all, but it ignores the other recent reports such as Charles Robinson from Yahoo stating Rodgers wants the GM gone, Rodgers talking about living in LA, or him wanting to host Jeopardy in the off-season (ain't happening).

It is. Against the 49ers they had no chance (23.3 QBR, though). But this past year the Packers benefited from three straight Tampa turnovers and Rodgers was not able to deliver when it mattered most (67.6 QBR). It has now been 11 seasons since Aaron went and played in a Super Bowl. Not all his fault, but his teams have been competitive and in the chase. Which is about all you can ask for.

Probably doesn't want to be a Packer after today either.   Saints dropped them like a bad habit.

Ugly!  Extremely ugly!

Aaron looked different to me today.  Has he lost weight, something else?
