December 17, 200619 yr Could it be recruiting.....for all of the Tubby Bashers out there, is there anyone in red that you would want for one of the UK freshmen. All I hear is about how Pitino is so much better recruiter than the Tubster is. Well it hasn't looked like that looking on the floor for the last few years. UL is playing with sub-standard talent recruited by the current head coach, but no one ever seems to mention his recruiting lapses.
December 17, 200619 yr Not a diehard card fan but... the answer is no. Rick is a great coach that has won everywhere he has been. The guys missed a bunch of open shots, how is that a coaching error? Tubby on the other hand got lucky one year and has then preceded to run one of the best programs in college sports into the ground. Rick took a team that was in terrible decline and took them to the final 4 in 4 years. Tubby won a national title with a team that had been to the final the previous two years and then hasn't been able to get back to the final 4 since. FYI, I think both of these teams stink. UofL just stunk worse today. I disagree the two teams dont stink and UK will more then likely be top 25 by then end of the year. This is a team that will be scary in the next few years. Both teams have a LOT of young talent. Both have a lot of learning left to do. But once they get acclimated to the big games in the some of the roudiest houses in the US. They will be 2 very very competetive teams.

Not a coaching error on either coach! Most coaches and teams get lots of luck in the NCAA Tourney! On Rick winning everywhere he has been,Im sure your only talking College because I don't think he did very good at the Pro level! In 97 Pitino couldn't win with his own Players!I think Louisville is going to turn things around after this Loss because They Have one of the best coaches in the nation! KY is going to get better with each game win or lose! In the small state of KY we have two of best coaches in the nation and for some people thats not good enough!
December 17, 200619 yr A Pitino team that can't throw it in the ocean from 6 feet is a disaster. His O is usually one the relies heavily on being able to throw it in from behind the arc. Did I hear 3 for 24 from 3 range? Wow! UK is a top 50 team (a premise of a negative UK thread) so I guess UL is top 100? Remember this post when UK has a bad shooting night...It will happen.
December 17, 200619 yr Remember this post when UK has a bad shooting night...It will happen. Oh how I dread it but I know its going to happen! I just hope its against a team that is not that good and we can still pull it out! If it happens against Fla,Ala,Tenn, even Vandy it will be a long night! The only thing a team can do when there not shooting well is to kick it in on D and make the other team not shoot well either!

IMO, if it weren't for a torn ACL we'd be talking about a UK 3-peat. I have a lot of respect for Pitino for the way that he handled the Anderson situation. He probably could have played in the final four, but it would have been rushing a return from his energy, and Pitino wasn't willing to risk the kids future for any selfish reasons such as bettering his chances to repeat.

Yea and I agree with you! I just have to come back with that when people say the only reason Tubby won it in 98 is because he had it given to him! Just being somewhat sarcastic:rolleyes: !
December 17, 200619 yr Pitino is a great coach. I think, like UK in a way, UL just doesnt have the right combination of players. Their freshmen are playing like freshmen, and their upperclassmen are hurt and inconsistent. Pitino deserves another yr after this. Now 3 straight years out of the NCAA tournament (which I dont believe will happen) would be bad for him.

I guarantee Louisville will be getting some big upsets when the Big East rolls around!

December 17, 200619 yr The Cards are pretty bad, but give RP some time with this group, I think they can make it to the Big Dance. I thought Jenkins would show up today, IMO he's the key to this team.
December 17, 200619 yr If you could.would you trade Pitino for Tubby? Just curious because you are die hard cards fan. RP has lost his touch and Tubby is, well, just Tubby! So, I would not take either of the 2!!! I have watched the Cards a couple of times this season and I just do not see this potential that RP is talking about. Padgett is the only good player on the team. It's not that he is a great player, but a player who just doesn't mess up. Any coach would want him on their team!!! As for Caracter, I'm not impressed. I am thinking that he has lost too much weight too fast and doesn't yet have his feet and coordination yet. He reminds me of Sheray Thomas!!!

I would say that if any top coaching Job in college Basketball became available and either one of these coaches were interested they both would have a very good shot at getting the job!
