I think it is a great job!

Would you consider coming back and coaching TEs?

Tradition, facilities, top notch school district.  Yes.

This has to be a Northern Kentucky on the river thing? ?

  • Yes. Highlands is a good job, of course.  The question they will face during this coaching search: Is it good enough to lure a good coach away from their current good job?

Did not say it made sense, but believe it will happen.  Yes the schedule will be scaled back.  Isn’t that what Weinrich and staff wanted to do?  Seems you were on board with that.

Not sure Knox Catholic, Scott Co, Simon Kenton, Moeller, Boyle Co... to name a few would be considered scaling back the schedule.

Are they on next years schedule?

I do not know.  I’m sure the 6a schools in the area would be because they typically are on it.  I heard maybe Bowling Green.

I hope Moeller isn’t. With the new RPI system that game cost Highlands a home playoff game not to mention translates to lost revenue. How many RPI points again did we gain by losing to Moeller?

Find a game that you can win in Ky to help your RPI. No reason we should of been traveling to Hebron 2 years in a row. You’re better off not playing Moeller. You got nothing for that!

Coach wanted the players to have a game because they had already missed out on so much this year with COVID rules.  He could have traveled hours in the state and cost money, kept it a bye and no revenue,  or played at home against Moeller with gaining revenue.  Any choice wouldn’t have satisfied the “fans”.  But, his only concern was what the players wanted to do because it was their season.   And he did what the players he asked wanted to do.

They could add Johnson Central instead of Big Mo at a neutral site to get a feel for 4A. I would have a bye week afterwards because they are kind of like playing Navy Stylistically.

I think that this is a good job still. No doubt!

While not real familiar with the culture up there but from the outside looking in we know the Covcath Qb lives in Ft Thomas and his sister goes to Highlands that has to hurt and seems like the great Northern Ky players are everywhere but Highlands now and days.

I think there are more fruitful schools with a better ceiling and "less stressful or demanding" natives.

With that said, it's not often you can take over a program will a tradition of winning at the most elite of levels, a proud alumni base that pass a winning culture on to their kids and can help write checks, a well organized and ran feeder program, a desirable school district that families want to be part of, an established tradition of kids going on to the next level or being successful, and on top of that a populated area like Cincy/NKY surrounding you.

IMHO, it's like inheriting a really nice, yet slightly dated, yacht. Your going to have to commit to maintenance and a remodel is needed that will not be easy, but the hardest parts are already taken care of and people will envy you without even knowing what the inside may look like.

Highlands is a good job because of the tradition, facilities, and funding you receive.  Those are all major issues that a lot of high school coaches have to deal with daily that you don't have to worry about there.  It can be considered a bad job because of unrealistic expectations and fans, but those are problems everywhere.  It is my understanding that the school district closed down enrollment unless you live within district.  If that is true I would like to know when that happened and look at Highlands success after that.  Highland used to put 3-4 D1 Power 5 type athletes on the field and I haven't heard of many in the last few seasons.  Those types of kids make a world of difference to a high school football team.

Just call zoneblitz the 6 o'clock news cause he is out here asking the tough questions!

Let's face it, the face of High School Football has changed a lot since the 70's to 90's. This is not about the "R" word whatsoever, but it is about how easily a talent pool chooses to move and fill your cup or for parents to make the decision of where their kid has the best chance for success. If it is difficult for talent to bring itself into your program in this day and age then that talent is typically going to find another competitor of yours to play at.

Over a half a dozen game changing/ program changing athletes have transferred out and not into Ft Thomas. So when people say Highlands isn’t getting transfers they are wrong, Highlands’s is giving transfers.

It has not only affected the football program but also basketball and baseball to name a few.

This culture has to be reversed and the time for a change in leadership was necessary.

Someone else feel free to rattle off names of transfers.

Hergott and Geisler? There are others, they just don’t play for Highlands anymore.
