Reds at Cubs - 9/08 - 9/10

I've said this before - They are not a team - they are a collection of players.

There is no solid nucleus of veteran players that solidify the unit.  They are all independent agents playing for a salar,y and a contract, with their own agendas, and no allegiance at all to the city in which they play.  How many of these guys have been here for two years or more??? Joey???

A team is a group of players, committed to a goal,  that earn the respect of any new additions to buy into that goal as well.  We have had those potential players who could have provided us with a good base to build on.  Billy Hamilton, who now plays for the Cubs is one of those players - Batting average, etc., be damned.  Scooter Gennett was another.

Go back to my "What happened to the Re-Build???" question, that no one has an answer to.  We sold all of our "good" players to invest in the youngsters coming up through the farm system.  How did that work out.  Since that failure, we have been a rudderless ship, and will continue to drift in mediocrity until we get some leadership in the front office, who can assemble a TEAM and stability.   The revolving door must stop, along with David Bell, who owes his job only to his last name, in hopes that he would sell a few extra tickets..

The Reds have had 45 players pass through their active roster during the 2019-2020 seasons.  Google "Cincinnati Reds Roster 2019" and check them out.

 GREAT points!!

I ask this question?  Would you go to a 4 man rotation rest of the way?  Treat every game like a game 7 with scoring and moving runners?  Use bullpen more now?

I would not, starting rotation is the 1 bright spot!!

saw where they finally sent Davidson packing and called up Stephenson

should’ve sent Bell with him!!  WHY are they hanging on to this guy!!

The Reds earned one last night, which I find quite satisfying.  Trevor Bauer pitched a whale of a game.

Ole "Chicken Wing" Kimbrel finally pitched well for Chicago, after presenting the Reds with two gift wins earlier in the season.  Of course,  his team was down three runs tonight which took the pressure off.

Let's see what they do tonight.

As much as I'd love to see him here again next year, there is zero chance that Bauer re-signs with the Reds.  Perhaps if they had gone out and kicked down the door to this season and just dominated.  But not with what he's seen in the past couple of months.  The Reds have a better chance at making the playoffs this year than they do in re-signing Trevor.

I think Tyler Mahle is likely to be a permanent part of the rotation next year, and if Disco or Miley can't do it, then Antone will find himself next in line.

Think Bauer made it clear he doesn’t want to play with people that can’t catch the ball!

I also think Antone wins a spot in the rotation next

Bauer said he is staying and told Clevenger with the Padres that he can not wait to face him next year.  Plus, I was told that Reds made one of Bauer's best friends or old coach, pitching coordinator for the entire organization.  Anybody know if this is true?  Miley needs to go and one of those young guns in the rotation.

Hope so Sumo!!

I would send Disco and Miley packing or to the bullpen, if Bauer stays with Castillo and Gray I’d insert Mahle and Antone into the starting rotation.

Hope Stephenson shows up well!!

Maybe it is time to send Suarez to Mason and just ride out the season with some other hack that the Reds can pick off of someone else’s team.  That guy has worn the Golden Sombrero not one time this year, but at least twice.  Has no clue at the plate as he swings at more balls that he could not hit with an ironing board.  This team just flat out sucks from manager all the way down to player 56.

Blame the mud.  If you were up at 1:45am for the post-game show, the nerdy guy with the black rim glasses who I have never heard of, came out and exonerated Gray, because he had trouble pitching with mud in his spikes.

More players I've never heard of and more non-Major League play last night.
