COVID Reds Player

Featured Replies

Reports are out that a Reds player has tested positive for COVID. Speculation that today's game will be cancelled while all players and personnel on the Reds and the Pirates get tested and wait for results. The Reds player has not been identified yet.

Both of the games on  Saturday and Sunday have been postponed, potentially to be played as a doubleheader on Monday which is an off day for both teams.  Another possibility is later in the year since they have two more series remaining.

Is it time to shut this circus down ?

Is this thing so fragile that one positive shuts down the operation for days at a time???  It's a real thing, and folks in a group setting (baseball teams) are going to contract it.  Testing should limit the exposure and allow them to remove the infected - right???

I thought that this was the reason for a 60 man roster, that if necessary, the parts would be interchangeable.

NKU Basketball has incurred numerous positive tests with no symptoms.  I wonder what percentage of folks who test positive ever have symptoms?  Are these people with a positive test BUT no symptoms, contagious???

I assume all of the prevention/cancellation is to prevent spread of the virus, BUT how thin can this thing be spread before we are merely off of the deep end.

If this is going to be the case, OR if these are the restriction/standards by which they operate, then I agree with 4 Quarters.  Just shit it down.

I assume you shut it down for a day or two so that everyone can be tested to make sure that it is only one positive case.

Probably a lot better to postpone 2 days and find out what they're dealing with vs just keeping playing and then find out it spread throughout half the team (e.g. Cardinals).

Has there been any announcement yet about these 2 games? I had heard they could be played tomorrow as a double header since both were scheduled off.

Pirates went back to Pittsburgh.  Reds are awaiting results of tests on Monday to decide if they should travel to Kansas City for the next series.  So nothing on Monday.

Thanks

Sounds like all other Reds players tested positive and I think they resume place in Kansas City tomorrow.

The whole team tested positive?

I thought the whole team was tested, and everyone else came back negative.  I'm thinking that's what MJ was probably trying to say.

I guess they don't have the latest test results back yet.

It just out of an abundance of caution but you may very well be correct may not have got everyone's 2nd test back yet.
