Ashland gains a trio of Transfers

Featured Replies

The most talked about "flaw" of Ashland last season (if a team that is 33-0 has a flaw worth talking about) was lack of a inside presence. A 6'9 talented center seems to fit that bill quite nicely.

From the video I've seen on him he will definitely be a nice asset for the Tomcats. Cuts to the basket well and is also able to catch lob passes for dunks in transition. I imagine he and Porter will get along just fine in that aspect.

I’m not getting ahead of myself just stating the facts. Then you assemble that much talent the expectation should be to win the state!!

You might be just a little ahead, they haven't even suited up yet, and you have them winning the state.

That should always be the goal, but making it a reality is easier said than done.

This will end well.... nothing to see here.

Hopefully you're right, another state championship trophy and banner would be a nice addition to James A. Anderson gymnasium.

I’m not getting ahead of myself. I definitely didn’t say they will win the State. I said they “Should”!!!

You bring in the talent they did and return a high level D-I point guard (coach’s words). Also have a mid-major off-guard returning (Again coach’s words) then you should win the State.

But give Rowan Co. credit, they picked up a nice player from Lexington!!

The 16th Region is catching up with the rest of the state by assembling very talented teams!

There will be a few other teams that SHOULD win it also.

I guess i'm old fashioned but it's still crazy to see high schools bringing in kids. I'm not here to debate if its good or bad but its definitely different times then when I was growing up watching home grown teams compete for titles. Those days are over.

It’ll be very interesting hearing how Dicky Martin receives this new haul of athletes.

I remember years ago when he basically crucified Rose Hill for OJ Mayo and his pals.

He would actually on the radio when giving the starters for the game he would say their hometown. For example he would say "starting at guard from Huntington, WV OJ Mayo." lol

Ashland also for a number of years refused to schedule Rose Hill in any sport even down to the middle school level.

lol Your know it will be different now he will be saying "born and raised in downtown Ashland!!!!!"

Your not old fashion. You just still have morals and values. No matter what Ashland does it will be discredited because coach mays will not be winning with Ashland kids. I don't see how that people in Ashland can cheer for a team with very few players from their hometown. "isn't that what makes HS sports so great".
