April 10, 20206 yr Hundreds of thousands of people experienced terrible quality of life well before Coronavirus. It only matters now because it’s affecting new people. And a lot of those people benefited from social programs. I’ve done my part recently donating too help kids get lunches who are now out of school all year. Yes it sucks we have a lower class population, one that neither you or I are in. As you said those people were already there, now add millions of more “middle class” people who might be without jobs and you will see why so much rides on the economy. Life as we know it has changed, it will be before 2020 and after 2020 now.

The economy will bounce back immediately and aggressively. There’s no need for a 100% shut down. I think the measures we’ve taken in KY are good, if everyone would follow them. Businesses and the stock market will NEVER trump the health and safety of my family and friends. As I’ve said numerous times on here, all the excuses people are using for why we should open things back up are not new issues. They are just affecting new people, and apparently we can’t have that. You’ll have to excuse my lack of sympathy for the new people dealing with these things for the first time, since the overwhelming majority of them never have sympathy for the people that ALWAYS have to deal with these issues.

I’m just saying that IMO, completely shutting down our economy doesn’t offset the damage as slightly opening it back up. And I’m not in favor of that right now, but we need to be looking at it by June....

Most of those stats are tracked by the FBI so it will be a couple of years before they're released.

So why are we talking about it? Suicides happen constantly. Our veterans are plagued with this. It’s crazy that people may kill themselves over money it’s a big deal now.

You don’t think companies will look into more AI/robotic software that doesn’t get ill after this is all over? You don’t think more people will continue to shop at home safely, instead of congregating at the already previously failing brick and mortar stores? In 2019 consumption was 90% of the US economy/GDP, do you believe people will go back traveling, flying, cruising, spending right after this is over , when we might be coming off 20-30-% unemployment?

And when we are 100% sure that EVERYONE is safe from the virus is when we will be able to be “normal”’again. Just because you hope everything will be fine doesn’t mean it will. Lack of preparation is what got us in this mess in the first place. You’d think folks would eventually prepare for the inevitable.
