Announcers and music with quality sound systems add excitement to High School Basketball.

 

Just for kicks, which schools have the best sound systems, play the best pump up music, and have the most exciting announcers?

Definitely not Boyd County.

 

They have a beautiful gym that will seat around 4,000, a new hardwood floor and good lighting, but they could have Howard Cosell, Dick Vitale, Marv Albert and Cawood Ledford on the mic and no one in the gym could understand what they were saying.

 

I'm not picking on the good folks in the county, they have a lot right, but their P.A. system stinks.

 

Maybe in next year's budget. :thumb:

I agree, boyd has one of if not the nicest gyms in the area. The PA however is horrible.

I don't know if the sound system is the best in the state, but Owsley County's Jamie Brunk is one of the best at what he does, IMO. His 'Welcome to beautiful downtown Booneville" is classic.

Now, if only Booneville, population 140, had a 'downtown', it would be much better.

I'm not sure if he's still doing the game, but the announcer at Corbin has a great voice for doing the PA.

Elliott Co. has an announcer that is doing a great job, he really brings a lot of energy to the game. Their sound system is also pretty good.

We don't have many games called in Augusta, But at last years Bracken @ Augusta game. Augusta's Todd Kelsch did a awsome job. Would like to hear him call more of them. If he is planing on calling the game tuesday, the system was not working tonight at the Gym for the Girls Game.

 

 

I agree with G-town on Mason Co., both boys and girls announcers not very good.

Franklin County has to be up near the top. They just installed a new state-of-the art system at the end of last season.

No question the new sound system at Franklin County is the best in the 11th region. With Terry Johnson who has 30 plus years on the PA, entertainment value is up at FCHS.

 

Without question Franklin County has the best old gym in the 11th region!

CovCath's sound system is horrible. You can't hear announcer Jack Kaelin at all.
