2020 KHSAA Girls Swimming & Diving Champions - Louisville Sacred Heart.

 

Absolute domination ... again. The Valkyries won all three relays and five of eight individual events. Top end depth came into play too, as SH qualified 22 swimmers for the individual event finals.

 

Eleventh straight title and 31st overall for Sacred Heart.

What was everyone’s take on the new venue. I kind of liked it. They was more room to move around and you weren’t packed in like sardines. Also I heard a male diver hit his head on the board. Hopefully he is ok.

As a parent of former divers, I think it is a crime that they moved diving finals out of the middle of the state final and put it on its own day. In my opinion, that ruins the event for the divers and disenfranchises them from their teammates!

It is not as large as last year, but it is the third 300+ point win in a row. An extraordinary run and gaining separation on traditional powers Manual and Notre Dame.

Agreed. My daughter was a dive finalist and the meet had the feel of every other "big" meet she has competed in. Definitely not the atmosphere of a state meet. Heck, the kids that medaled were basically just an oh by the way these kids got top 8. no entrance music or fanfare like the swimmers. The only people cheering for them were their own parents and a handful of other parents who stuck around waiting for their kid to change.

I think the powers to be sometimes, in an effort to streamline things, don't realize they are ruining the experience for the kids!
