The Pannell Swim Shop/KHSAA State Swimming & Diving Championships will have a different look this year, with the event moving to the Lancaster Aquatic Center on the University of Kentucky campus. The state swim meet was last held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center in 2006 and spent the last 13 years at the University of Louisville’s Ralph Wright Natatorium.

 

Fans attending this week’s Pannell Swim Shop/KHSAA State Swimming & Diving Championships should be advised that backpacks may not be brought into the Lancaster Aquatics Center by the general public per campus policy (http://bit.ly/38IVMou).

 

On Thursday, parking will only be available in the Purple Lots located on Wildcat Court next to the Softball and Soccer Complex. After 2 p.m. ET, parking will also be available in the Green Lot next to Kroger Field off Cooper Drive.

 

On Friday and Saturday, fans will be able to park in the Green Lot next to Kroger Field off Cooper Drive. In addition, on Saturday paid parking will also be available in Parking Structure #7 located off Sports Center Drive and overflow parking in the Greg Page Apartments Lot located off of Alumni and Commonwealth Drives. The 2020 state meet begins Thursday, Feb. 20 with the diving competition, followed by the girls’ swimming preliminaries and finals on Friday, Feb. 21 and the boys’ swimming prelims and finals on Saturday, Feb. 22. The girls’ diving competition begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday, with boys’ diving starting at 6 p.m.

 

The girls’ swimming prelims begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, with the championship finals slated to start at 6:30 p.m. The boys’ competition will follow the same schedule on Saturday, with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and the finals beginning at 6:30 p.m.

 

Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Thursday for the girls’ diving prelims and 5 p.m. for the boys’ diving prelims. Ticket sales will start at 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday morning for each day’s prelims, and 4:30 p.m. for the evening sessions.

Last school to win swimming championship besides St.X was Elizabethtown in 1988. St.X had pool put in around 1990 and seems to be big factor in dominance since then.

Cooper's Moore is just an 8th grader. The future looks bright for Jaguar Diving.

St. Henry's Stigall moved from third to state runner-up on his final dive.

Taylor Albrecht of PL Dunbar was named the 2020 Midway University/KHSAA Swimming & Diving "Female Athlete of the Year."

The swimming portion of the championships resumes this morning at UK's Lancaster Aquatic Center.

 

The girls prelims begin @ 10:00 am and the finals @ 6:30 pm.

 

The boys take to the water Saturday, with prelims @ 10:00 am and the finals @ 6:30 pm.

Sacred Heart crushed it in the prelims today. 22 finalists in eight individual events. First or second in qualifying for all three relays. Finals underway now.

Dixie Heights looking strong in two relays. Expecting Kenady Neil and Selina Reil of the Colonels to place in the top three in their three individual events.

Lainey Kruger, Notre Dame (2 events); Alexa Arkenberg and Audrey West of Ryle; Caroline Sand, Highlands; Emma Littrell, St. Henry - all with excellent chances for top three podium finishes.
