Ohio State Football Players Charged With Rape & Kidnapping

Featured Replies

Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint have both been arrested by Columbus Police and have been charged with rape by threat of force and kidnapping for the purposes of engaging in sexual activity. Both charges are first-degree felonies.

Riep, a CB and Wint a redshirt LB/S, are both currently juniors at Ohio State University. The university provided a statement explaining that both players have been suspended from all activities involving the football team.

Ohio State football players Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint charged with rape, kidnapping

Per the affidavit of probable cause cited by both Eleven Warriors and the Columbus Dispatch, the alleged victim and Riep began having consensual sex at the residence he and Wint share on Feb. 4. After the woman stopped, moved away and said she did not want to continue, Wint entered the room and raped her. Riep then held the woman down while Wint forced oral sex on her, per the summary statement of facts filed in both reports.

Per those reports, Riep instructed the victim to say the sex was consensual on a video recording, then drove her to her residence.

Court records indicate the incident took place at the residence shared by both players.

Ohio State football players Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint face charges of rape and kidnapping, stemming from an alleged incident last week.

Riep and Wint were booked into jail early Wednesday after warrants had been issued for them. They were charged with first-degree felonies Tuesday in Franklin County (Ohio) Municipal Court.

Ohio State said in a statement that it is aware of the charges and arrests and that both players have been suspended from all team activities.

Both backup DB's have played quite a bit but neither is counted on to be a starter and one I think is third string. If these allegations are true, it is horrible. I trust Coach Day will continue to take appropriate action as this proceeds through the court system.

As an OSU fan, I want them off the team, yesterday.

There is another thread (I believe made after this one) in the college fb thread, but I'll say the same here that I said there.

Those are pretty serious allegations. For all parties involved, I hope authorities have more evidence than just the woman's word.

The fact that they took the time to record a video of her saying it was consensual says it all for me. Kick them off the team.

I agree, if that actually happened.

I always defer to innocent until proven guilty. But obviously, the charges are very concerning. I have full faith in Ryan Day to take appropriate action after the facts are presented. Football is the least of Riep and Wints’ concerns right now.

These allegations are disgusting and if they are found guilty, which I agree with ChickenWyngz them taking a video to say it was consensual leads me to strongly believe they are, they deserve every bit of hell coming their way.

Ryan Day has dismissed both players from the school.

“I am not making any statement on the criminal charges, but it is clear they did not live up to our standards and my expectations.”

Really growing to love me some Ryan Day, not that I didn't already. That's not something you can let continue to play out.

Day is still offering mental/personal support to both players. I’m not saying Meyer wouldn’t have, but its a completely different feel at OSU now.

If this was an SEC school both players would be off the team for at least a week.

Surprised it took this long for a post like this.

Disgusting post. Try and have a little class.
