Kentucky 2A Classic Championship Game:

Sunday Jan. 19th- 3:00 p.m. at The Owensboro Sportscenter

John Hardin 19-0 and the Number 1 team in the state from the 5th Region

vs.

Bourbon County 17-2 and the Number 10 team in state from the 10th Region

It appears that Prepspin on Youtube has been carrying this tournament, and not only games that included Lexington Catholic. I hope that they’ll also be carrying this 2A Classic Championship game.

John Hardin got here by beating:

Christian Academy - Louisville 71-54

Warren Central 85-47

Bourbon County got here by beating:

Lawrence County 68-56

Lexington Catholic 71-66

Prepspin is not covering it. Any other solutions?

I sure hope so, but as of now I don't know where to look.

Why would Prepspin cover it then not cover the championship game?

Not to put them down because I do appreciate them, but that's sorta goofy I think.

For the record, by "football classification" both John Hardin and Bourbon County are 4A schools.

Kentucky has a six class football system and officially crowns 6 state football champions based on enrollment.

Kentucky has a one class basketball system and crowns only ONE state basketball champion.

Kentucky has an All A (meaning 1A) Classic for basketball (this is not a Kentucky High School State Champion) that is made up of mostly 1A and 2A teams by football classification.

Kentucky also has this tournament we refer to as the 2A Classic (again this is not a Kentucky High School State Champion) that includes teams up to 4A in enrollment based on football classification.

In short, the winner of this tournament is not a Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Champion.

You’re correct, it’s not a KHSAA state tournament. The two tournaments you mentioned are statewide invitational tournaments using the KHSAA’s district and region formats to advance. I remember the first year they went statewide in 1990 a lot of schools chose not to participate. Russellville from the 4th didn’t play in it for several years. Hazard from the 14th chose not to play the first year.

I suppose the best wording for either tournament is they are statewide invitational tournaments in their specific enrollment classifications. When a school is crowned champions it means they won a statewide championship of all eligible teams that chose to play in the tournaments.

If John Hardin can win this game as expected, then their game against undefeated Elizabethtown on Tuesday will be a very big ticket indeed.

Will that game be streamed live? That should be a great game.

Most logical answer I can think of is because its Sunday. If that's not the reason then your guess is as good as mine.
