January 7, 20206 yr This guy must give one hell of an interview, because the resume seems lacking. I am no fan of Carolina, quite the contrary, but the process of selecting NFL head coaches fascinates me.
January 7, 20206 yr I agree, it is fascinating. A name generates some buzz and all of a sudden he is the next big thing. The hire is this year's Kliff Kingsbury. Rhule is 47-43 all time as a college head coach. 19-20 as the head coach of Baylor.

He took the Baylor program from dead in the water to a conference title contender really quickly, but that says more about his skill as a program-builder than anything else. I'm curious to know if that skill set translates.
January 7, 20206 yr Josh McDaniel was also scheduled to interview for this job today before they finalized a deal with Rhule late last night.

Kingsbury got fired as HC from Texas Tech of all places only to land a NFL head job lol.

Baylor had a lot of issues when he came in and over 40 scholarship players left when he first came. Took them from a 1 win team to an 11 win team in 3 yrs. I do think he got a boat load of cash for a guy who has 1 year of NFL experience, but I think he has a better resume than his record indicates.

I didn't say it was a good or bad hire or comparing/contrasting their resumes, just that it was a similar type hire in that a college coach without a sustained college resume gets a coveted job because of being the "it" name. Kingsbury probably had a little more cache as a "play calling genius" type. Which, that has shown to mean nothing.

The record doesn't tell the entire story.
January 8, 20206 yr I can’t believe people are questioning the Rhule hire. You guys understand how bad of a situation Baylor was in when he took over right?
