February 19, 20206 yr I turned a friend on to the Ursula K. LeGuin books mentioned in the "2019" list. He returned the favor by loaning me his copy of this yesterday. I like the concept of a word, in itself, as magic and mastery over them as power. What did you think of it? It was recommended that I treat it as a stand alone, as the next book in the series is awful. I don't see how "The Name of the Wind" can be read as a stand-alone. When finishing this book, you will want to read the 2nd book, "The Wise Man's Fear". I had to find out what happens as this a chronicle. I don't want to say the second book is awful. It is long, 994 pages, and can be tedious at times. However, now, I have to read book 3, whenever Rothfuss decides he wants to write or finish it. Patience is a virtue. Right? He has a 3rd book, one written about the "Kingkiller Chronicle Series" character Auri. The girl who lives in "The Underthing". While it may give some insight into "The University", I'm not enthusiastic enough about the series to delve into it. I will wait for Book 3. I hope that helps.
