Final

Final per the update thread.

Just an awesome win for this young group of Tomcats.

Colin Porter led all scorers with 23 points. Ethan Hudson had 20 and Cole Villers 19 for Ashland.

Lincoln Bush scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a losing effort for GRC.

Thirteen lead changes and ten ties according to the post game stats. Sounds like a tremendous basketball game between two very good teams. Great win for the Tomcats.

Ashland's free throw shooting prowess comes up big again, as the Tomcats made 19/21 to raise their season percentage to 83.6.

Ashland played without one of their top players in sophomore Ethan Sellars. Sellars was nursing an ankle injury. So excited about this Tomcat team.

Congratulations to the Tomcats!

This Ashland win really surprises me. Matchup problems all around for the Tomcats. Sure they have faced that before but it was against WV teams and let's face it even the large WV schools would struggle to beat GRC, especially on GRC's home floor.

Throw in that Ashland was missing one of their best players, a sophomore. Which is telling because Ashlands best players are freshmen and soph's. The Tomcats have a fountain of youth at the moment and are well coached. Like it or not, they're going to be good for years to come.

This one was worth the drive to Winchester. Great game. Both teams really got after one another defensively. Ashland had to overcome a big size disadvantage but these guys play bigger than their size.

You’re right Ashland is very young, but they also have some very good seniors in Phillips, Hudson and Bradley.

This was the difference in the ball game. Loved the little PG for Ashland. Loved the way he handled and could dish the ball and played so poised under pressure. How many assists did he have? Just a Freshman, he is going to be one heck of a player.

Bush played one heck of a game. It really hurt us when he had to go out of the game with cramps.

Ashland had a good crowd there tonight. Congrats to them and their team on the win.

Agree it was a great game to watch. But shame on you for not letting me know you were there.

I looked all over the gym for you and couldn’t find you. I was sitting behind Ashland’s bench and I scanned the opposite side and didn’t see you then when I went to the lobby and back I scanned the rest of the gym. Somehow I missed you.

I always sent right behind our bench.

Porter was credited with 4 assists.
