Gus Johnson

I realize that I'm probably in the minority here...but, after watching today's OSU-PSU game, it's reinforced my dislike for Gus Johnson. Dude, I love your enthusiasm for the game...but, just call it. I don't need to hear "the...mighty...Chase...Young" or "J...K...all...day..." every time they have a good play (and I'm a Buckeyes fan!).

It's one thing if the guy/gal is doing voice-over on a highlights package...but, I don't need/want my play-by-play guy doing it...especially for players.

Normally I'd just mute the sound on the game, but I do really like Joel Klatt as a color commentator.

He’s mad corny and wayyyy too extra. Just chill, Gus.

Is he extra at times? Yeah. But I’d still take Gus over the CBS or ESPN/ABC play by play guys all day.

Not a chance. The CBS prime time crew is top notch.

The college one?

Yes sir.

Oh Deuce you’re kidding me right? Nessler and Danielsen are horrible. Undoubtably the worst in the sport. It’s not even close.

To each his own. I don’t watch games to listen to the commentators. Gus Johnson (and others like him) ruins the game for me.

That’s fair. No issues with you not liking Gus because of his personality and style of calling games. But Nessler and Danielsen are a disgrace to the game. You’re literally the only person I’ve heard say a good thing about them and that includes even diehard SEC homers.

I could do without all announcers. They bring nothing to the game IMO. So less is more with me. I love the bowl games where they have a feed of the game with a group of coaches commentating.

Gus is entertaining but his Chris Rock style isn’t for everyone. I love him but some people are for simple, others like swag.

I like Gus, but I want to really like Gus. He's just so over the top sometimes.

Play-by-play announcers are for radio. I can't stand color guys and studio commentators pontificating and second-guessing on what I just saw, either.

I prefer being at the stadium anyway, so when watching on TV, it is sound off or so low I can just hear the crowd noise.

I'm not a Gus fan either. Just call the game! Keep it Simple, Seriously. The Kiss system.

To my knowledge Gus first burst onto the scene as a college basketball announcer. I thought he really energized those games for the viewer. College basketball might be more given to his style than college football. I haven't heard him enough as a football announcer to form an opinion but I really like him doing basketball.
