The one-loss non champion debate only comes in if others do not take care of business, leaving the door open for debate, which is where these other variables come into play. November 20, 20196 yr It doesn't matter where Alabama is if UGA beats LSU. Without Clemson or Ohio State choking or Oregon losing again, Alabama has no shot. If everyone wins out and UGA beats LSU in the SEC title game...who would you put in the playoffs? If Oregon and Alabama both win out, Bama gets in over the Ducks. You heard it here first.

November 20, 20196 yr You know the answer as well as I. But, here we are arguing about the potential for a couple of 1-loss conference champions being left out, for a 1-loss non-champion. And if Boston College had the same record, against the same opponents as Clemson had this year...would people be automatically saying they should be in, the way they are the Tigers? Heck no, they'd be blasted for having bakery full of cupcakes on their schedule. But, because it's Clemson and they "proved it" by winning in previous years...they get a pass. So, you see what I'm getting at? We're using last year (and even further back, if you look at Washington) to use as an argument for who gets in and who's left out...this year. But hey, it makes great fodder for all the talking heads on tv, and boosts Ru's traffic here on BGP. I don't believe a 1-loss PAC12 Champion gets left out for a 1-loss SEC non-Champion...

And no offense to the Ducks, but that is on them for allowing it to get to that point to where it would be a debate, which gets back to Deuce's point about proving it. Auburn is not considered one of the best three or four teams in the SEC and that will be on their resume.

Oregon, is lucky Utah is good this year.

November 20, 20196 yr You would know better than me, but the flaw with both of them just doing a quick search is they have each played a ranked team (at the time) team. Both lost. While they may be good, nothing stands out. Oregon's best win was a loss to Auburn. What is Utah's best win? OU is the team best positioned, if they take care of business, to nab the final spot. You know who else has lost to the only ranked team they’ve played? Alabama. When I watch both Oregon and Utah I see two teams that can compete and potentially beat anyone in the country. They have what you need and they are built the right way. Both of those teams are built inside out. Utah has the best d line in the country besides Ohio State and Auburn. Oregon has the best O line in the country. I like Oregon a little bit more than Utah simply because of Herbert, but both can more than hold their own against anyone.

As much as I would love for the playoff to expand, in a world where people complain about the "everybody gets a trophy" crowd, it is kind of fun to see only 4 teams able to make it. I would love for Georgia to beat LSU, and have the final rankings be 1. OSU 2. Clemson 3. LSU 4. Georgia. Oklahoma vs. Alabama in a bowl (Hurts vs. former team), Georgia vs. OSU (Fields vs. former team), championship LSU vs. OSU (Burrow vs. former team). For me that would make for the most entertaining scenario.

Alabama beating a better Auburn team (Nix with 12 games experience), paired with Oregon's loss to them, would make it easy. I say all of this knowing Oregon's AD chairs the committee.
November 20, 20196 yr I absolutely am. Until the Pac 12 shows they belong, they don't IMO. No chance I put Oregon or Utah in over UGA or Bama with similar records. What have Bama and UGA done to show they belong more than Oregon and Utah?
