CLASS 3A

District-3-1- McLean County, Muhlenberg South, Paducah Tilghman, Union County, Webster County

District-3-2- Adair County, Butler County, Edmonson County, Hart County, Russellville

District-3-3- Central, Elizabethtown, Moore, Shawnee

District-3-4- Henry County, North Oldham, Spencer County, Western Hills

District-3-5- Casey County, Garrard County, Jackson County, Somerset, Taylor County, Wayne County

District-3-6- Breathitt County, Cawood, Estill County, Fleming County, Powell County

District-3-7- East Carter, Lewis County, Mason County, Russell, West Carter

District-3-8- Belfry, East Ridge, Magoffin County, Pike County Central, Sheldon Clark

With realignment I think a lot of us may not know much about our new class mates, so if you know about these teams please share with the rest of us.

Tilghman should be the cream of the crop of the d-1 and 2 teams in the west, Central should be the top dog of the d-3 and 4, Somerset & Breathitt should be top dogs in d-5 and 6 with Fleming and Wayne the top challengers and Russell and Belfry should be battling it out for the top spot in the east with S.Clark and Mason there top challengers....This class, imo, is a little top heavy to the east with 7-8 really good teams while the west only has 2-3 strong teams...

Breathitt returns everyone except 3 linemen and a halfback. They have all the parts of a great season in tact. I believe in my opinion Breathitt is got to be one of the favorites to com out of the east in 07. They also seem to be in the weakest district in my opinion as well.

Yeah, most of the cream of that class is/was the cream of the current 2A class, so Tilghman essentially gets a class drop.

I don't know what Central returns next year off the top of my head, but unless it's a LOT, I'd think you should be able to pencil Tilghman in for a trip to Louisville this time next year versus either Russell or Belfry.

Funny how they put two teams that have only been playing varsity football for only a couple of years in the same district (North Oldham & Spencer Co). I see Tighlman being the dominant team in this class with each year producing a new set of teams rising to the top as senior heavy teams move on and rebuild and others step it up on a yearly basis.

Tilghman will be a dominating team in the west but thats mainly because the west district 1 and 2 have no other strong teams, but, once they get out of the district, theres plenty of teams who can play with them and a few who can consistently beat them...

With the realignment...there's definitely a power shift in 3A football toward the Eastern part of state. Teams such as Russell, Belfry, Breathitt, Sheldon Clark should dominate this class for the next couple of years. IMO, Russell will lose too much to make another trip to Louisville (28 graduating seniors). Either Breathitt or Belfry will be the prohibitive favorite to march to Louisville...with Belfry being the favorite. 7-8 main line starters back on both sides of the ball. They are very deep. If they can find a little speed...then IMO, everybody will be chasing them in 2007.

Since Mason is in the same district with Russell next year and then if they would advance they are looking at Belfry and Sheldon Clark ........ :scared:

Old argument, but they are considered NKY to the rest of the state. Seems like a natural to pull for them!!
