Yes, just to clerify, I didn't mean Servino was a bad coach, but he didn't have as great as success as a head coach then past and future head coaches in general. Anyone know what he's up to these days?

PS Did Servino really removed the helmet decals from the helmets of 95 team towards the end of the season or was that just a rumor I heard back then?

Thanks!

I knew after I posted that it didn't come out right. I knew you weren't implying that. :thumb:

I'm not going to say much, but hard work at Trinity? I know the last four years at Male I watched more pratice than any one beside a coach and these kids worked very hard. And the quote about Trinity "fans hurt when they lose". They don't hurt much do they? Coach should have been in our car after the losses to North Hardin, John Hardin, and Trinity. Yeah Coach we hurt too. Trinity is in a class (X too) by themselves ands thats life. My $00.02

Alabama, I've been away awhile, but I must say that in doing all my reading to catch up, I've been a little upset by some of your recent posts after the Male/Trinity game a couple of weeks ago. I respect your posts, I respect your position as the dad of a graduating senior, and I understand how you must feel. Trust me, you're not alone in helping your son overcome disappointment. I've been there too.

Coach Beatty was speaking of Trinity football-it's program, it's fans, it's players. Not anyone else's. So many, apparently you are one of them at this point, feel that Trinity players must not have to work as hard as others. Neither I, nor any Trinity fan, coach or player has the authority to judge the expecations of the players within other programs, nor the expectations of the program on it's players.

What we can speak of, with absolute authority, is the amount of time, committment, resources and dedication, are expected of the Trinity football family, including it's players. I can speak of my experience only, and I'll tell you that there were many mornings my son made it to school well before time for classes to start to lift. There were many times he stayed after practice and lifted more. There were the "off days" that he went to the Marshall building to lift. There was the running after he got home, and there was the "early to bed" discipline he imposed upon himself, foregoing the Friday & Saturday night social activities to make sure he got up early enough to get his conditioning in before he had to go to work at his job. There were the hours of studying while waiting for practice to begin, or on lunch breaks at work to make sure he kept his grades up. He did all of thes things and he never once played a full set of downs of varsity football.

While I can absolutely respect that Male and every other schools' programs players work every bit as hard and show up when expected, I truely don't know how many have a program full of kids, top to bottom, who are willing to forego just about every "teenage fun" part of their lives to be a part of something in which they'll never expect to hear their name called on a Friday night. I know they're there, and you can tell who they are. Because Coach Beatty spoke of the "Trinity Way", do not presume that he's dismissing any other "way". He was interviewed about his job at Trinity, and he answered, no more, no less. Don't read into it, what isn't there.

I respect that your players and fans hurt after your losses. But I do feel that again, you're transferring meaning into words that just isn't there. I know that I speak for most Trinity fans when I say that we respect your program, that we most certainly admire what they achieve, and we are respectful of what a great game they played on that crazy Friday night. We can empathize wholeheartedly with the agony of defeat, because we have been there. But, because we may not experience it as often, does that mean it's any less?

Again, I have always admired your posts and your passion toward your program. What is disheartening is your tone after having faced us and not been the victor. It's really surprising, and frankly, I believe it's more to do with the fresh pain, than it is to any sense or implication of foul play or unfairness. At least, I hope that's true....

You called other schools work ethic in to question by inferring,

I think that is an oxymoronic sentence.

Trust me CR, there are at least three other schools, right here in Jefferson Co., who match Trinity's preparation program in every way you mentioned above step for step. No they have NOT "been to the State Finals 6 out of the past 7 years" like Trinity, but, 2 of the 3 have been close and 1 of them has been to the championship game 3 of the last 4 years.

I'm sure they do. The difference is, they haven't done 6 out of the past 7 years. That is a fact that is irrefutable.

Good sportsmanship is supposed to occur on the winning side as well as the losing side.

Discretion is the better part of valor!

Good Luck tonight. Bring home #17.

GO ROCKS!

I agree and thanks for the support.

Well stated Rockmom ! :thumb:

This part of the post drives me insane....we log the hours, believe it...other schools do as well...but I would venture that not that many do...Most of our kids are one show ponies (don't play other sports), I think that's a big indicator. Please don't fool yourself into thinking that we just plug the next coach in there, and the animail will succeed...it is done by those great men that have headed our programs..

Lastly, #'s? Well, we started from NOTHING....we built Kentucky's Football Powerhouse....we earned the advantages that we have.

No one said you didn't earn it, but, as you said yourself "The Advantages that we have", therefore, confirming the points everyone has been making.. Trinity has advantages others don't, be it earned or not.. I know if I were in ST X and Trinitys shoes and didn't win a Championship, I would be highly upset, considering the cards they're dealt....

^ That's what your not understanding...we earned our advantages...is it our fault kids want to come to Trinity? Is it our fault if your local school district hamstrings your football program? Exactly....we win, because we have earned it.

And without question,you should...

1. I never questioned any other school's work ethic;

2. I am unaware of another school that has been to the State Finals 6 out of the past 7 years. If you can name one besides Trinity let us all know. If not, then no program has had the same schedule as Trinity;

3. The majority of players still lift and run during dead period. I believe the only thing "dead" about dead period is that you can't have contact with coaches or the school. Maybe it's different at other schools.

You said no other team gets up in mid january and lifts at 6 am. That is what I take exception to. There absolutely are programs around the state that work as hard as Trinity and we all could name them. If you meant otherwise I misread your post and I apolgize.

I am quite sure he is not trying to BIG TIME other programs, just referencing what it is that WE do.

I think it's pretty funny when the Trinity faithful fail to acknowledge #s as an advantage....Go to the threads regarding Mercer Co and see if they aren't getting eaten up by alot of BGPers for there #s advantage..You'll also see many posts not blaming Mercer for the cards they were dealt, but, like it or not, it's still an advantage and Mercer's advantage against 2a competition is, in most cases, alot less than Trinitys against the other 4a schools, so, why is okay to knock on Mercer but not Trinity...

But numbers aren't as big of an advantage as some like to think they are. It's really not the largest piece of the puzzle.

Trinity is 4A, and playing in 4A.

I disagree...#s are THE biggest piece...Not the only piece, but, definately the biggest....I wonder if WCentral, one of the smallest 4a teams, would feel the same about winning a championship in 1a or 2a as they would to win a 4a ring....I say not, but, that scenario is very close to what Trinity faces every year...

I don't think I said that, but nevertheless, apology accepted.

I recall a time before I was a Trinity fan that the enrollment had gone down so much that there was serious consideration given to making it a coed school. I still seem to recall 80-100 people dressed for Trinity's football games. Yes we are blessed to have a large enrollment and yes having a large number of bodies on the team is an advantage BUT if something happened and Trinity suddenly lost half of it's student body I would be willing to be my last dollar that they would still have 90-100 kids out for football every year.

Highlands is one of the smaller schools in their division and no one would argue with their success, mostly against schools that are larger then them. They like Trinity have players that have aspired to be a part of their program for years before ever entering high school. That IMVHO is the biggest reason that schools like Trinity, Highlands, X etc. continue to have very successful football programs.
