October 1, 20197 yr Is there anything the Bengals can try to get something going on offense this year? Any ideas at all? They looked completely hopeless last night against the Steelers and I couldn't think of anything that might help them.

October 1, 20197 yr Author Maybe go with six offensive lineman. Do that and get run focused. Any Woody Hayes disciples available to put in the run offense?
October 1, 20197 yr Maybe go with six offensive lineman. I'm not even sure that would help. It's not like I think of their goal line package as road graders to begin with.
October 1, 20197 yr Author The best thing about going run focused on offense is it runs the clock. Shorten the game and reduce the time the defense has to stay on the field.

To me that’s the ONLY hope, Mixon did have some nice runs last night, don’t know why they didn’t run more??? I know Mixon has to have a break, make another RB active with Bernard and rotate them in. On top of the blitzes we screwed up on and didn’t block I remember several more pass plays where 2-3 of the O line was just pushed straight back into Dalton’s lap, he has never been able to handle people around him and I guess he never will. Probably what Taylor was talking about after the game when he said we challenged our guys to win the 1 on 1’s and we got whipped, that’s really probably understating what happened!!
October 2, 20197 yr I heard a great, funny nickname for the Bengals offensive line this morning - The Ushers. "Right this way, sir!"
October 2, 20197 yr They may have to do it with smoke and mirrors this Sunday. Looks like Ross is gone for a few weeks due to a shoulder injury in the Pittsburgh game.

What I find really interesting is that the Bengals according to PFF is not even the worst rated OL in the NFL right now. The NFL team with the worst rated OL so far this year is the Rams.

The NFL team with the worst rated OL so far this year is the Rams. What are they using as quantifiers?!? The Bengals have given up 19 sacks (to the Rams 8), and have rushed for half the amount of yardage (198 to 399), with a 2.8 yard/rush attempt (vs. 4.1 for the Rams). Heck the Rams have scored on 44% of their drives (to the Bengals 24%), so yeah, I'd hate to have their O-line.

I'm just stating what they are currently ranked. I also think having a better WR core, better QB, and probably a better coach all helps to make those areas you listed also better.
October 2, 20197 yr Author John Ross to IR, ugh... Hate to knock a player because of injury but, it's like the old saying goes. The most important ability is availability.
