June 12, 20197 yr Author You need to re-word the initial question then. You may very well be right with regards to the number of people who try it once...but, I think repeated use is a completely different number. I mean I could re-word it if you want to be particular about it. :lol2: In my opinion, most people who would try it once would use it again, hence, occasionally.
June 12, 20197 yr I mean I could re-word it if you want to be particular about it. :lol2: In my opinion, most people who would try it once would use it again, hence, occasionally. Well, then we'll just have to agree to disagree on that, then. :lol2:
June 12, 20197 yr Two part question here: In your opinion, what percentage of the population currently smokes weed? And If it were legal on a federal and state level, what percentage of people would smoke? I'd say currently 40-50% of people smoke weed at least occasionally. If legal, I think that number goes up to 60-70%. What do you think? Here is some perspective. Only 56% of the US drank alcohol in the past month. I think a good amount less would smoke weed. Only 70% drank in the past year. So 30% of the US did not drink alcohol in the past year. No way smoking weed gets anywhere close to those numbers.
June 14, 20197 yr Cincinnati City Council voted Wednesday to decriminalize marijuana possession in Cincinnati, allowing individuals to have up to 100 grams without fear of fines or prosecution. The measure, which passed 5-3, means Cincinnati will join a rapidly growing number of states and cities that have either legalized or removed criminal penalties for possession of small amounts of marijuana. The law is scheduled to take effect in 30 days.

In theory though, the state highway patrol or any state or federal agent could still arrest you for possession in Cincinnati...since it is still illegal in Ohio and the US.
June 14, 20197 yr 35% now, 50% if legal is my guess. So you think if weed is legal, about the same number would smoke weed as currently drink alcohol?
June 14, 20197 yr Honest question here...if weed became legal everywhere...how much would it cost in comparison to cigarettes? Good question. I’ve heard some of the prices in California and it blows my mind how cheap it is. It’s hard to answer though because weed would be priced similar to wine and liquor in that you can get high quality stuff but you’ll come out of the pocket for it. The lower quality stuff will be cheaper and probably be all right. There are so many strands that could be done in relation to indica and sativa so pricing would vary. In relation to cigarettes it would be more expensive because a pack of 20 cigarettes is about 5-8 bucks depending on what you smoke. No way a pack of 20 joints would ever be 5-8 bucks but pricing wouldn’t be an issue IMO.
June 14, 20197 yr So you think if weed is legal, about the same number would smoke weed as currently drink alcohol? Yes. I think this is a fair assessment.
June 14, 20197 yr In theory though, the state highway patrol or any state or federal agent could still arrest you for possession in Cincinnati...since it is still illegal in Ohio and the US. In theory yeah but what would be their reasoning for arrest? If I am in Cincy with 7 grams in my pocket why would they want to arrest me?
June 14, 20197 yr I don't see it. The stat I posted above has drinking at 56%. I think people are more averse to smoking than drinking. If legal, I could see perhaps 40% of people smoking weed.
June 14, 20197 yr I think 20-30% of the population smokes on occasion/regularly now. I think 30-40% of the population would smoke on occasion/regularly if it became legal nationally. I think 40-50% would smoke if legal and marijuana is taken off of employee drug screening.
June 14, 20197 yr Legal or not marijuana should be taken off of employee drug screenings immediately.
June 14, 20197 yr In theory yeah but what would be their reasoning for arrest? If I am in Cincy with 7 grams in my pocket why would they want to arrest me? Same reason that you can get a ticket for going 5 miles over the speed limit, it's still against the state law. I didn't say that they would just that they could. The DEA could arrest everyone in Colorado selling recreational marijuana if they wanted to enforce the federal law, they just don't do it. There is a reason most of if not all banks would not deal with "legalized" sellers, because it's still illegal and they could be charged with money laundering. I think it will be legal federally sooner than later...and none of that will matter.
