What Percent of the Population Smokes Weed?

Featured Replies

Same reason that you can get a ticket for going 5 miles over the speed limit, it's still against the state law. I didn't say that they would just that they could.

The DEA could arrest everyone in Colorado selling recreational marijuana if they wanted to enforce the federal law, they just don't do it. There is a reason most of if not all banks would not deal with "legalized" sellers, because it's still illegal and they could be charged with money laundering.

I think it will be legal federally sooner than later...and none of that will matter.

Sellers were having issues with banks? How did they solve those issues? Go overseas or out of state?

Around only 16 to 18% smoke cigarettes, you think more already smoke marijuana regularly?

Absolutely. Cigarette smoking has been declining for quite some time now. When I think of all of the people that I know who smoke weed very very few of them smoke cigarettes.

I’ll also add that edibles need to be taken into account also. I know people who won’t smoke and will only take edibles.

It was a cash only business, not sure if it has changed yet or not. 60 minutes had a story on it a year back or so.

That’s interesting to me. I’d love to know what they ended up doing and why they were cash only. Cash feels damn near obsolete sometimes.

I'd agree there are many that smoke marijuana that don't smoke cigarettes. I just think many more still smoke readily available cigarettes, than smoke still illegal in most places, marijuana.

The candy and other things will help reach many that don't smoke, but those are only available now in areas with recreational use.

At the time they were their own banks and had to pay all vendors in cash also. They had huge vaults and heavy security...:lol2:

I’d love to know the numbers for sure. Cigarettes was the thing to do in high school and college. Some folks kept on smoking afterwards while others quit. Nowadays I feel like I am more apt to see people who hate cigarettes but enjoy weed.

Without a doubt.

Edibles are pretty much as easy to get as flower and oils across the country...

I'll take your word for it, I have never seen them and have no idea where to get any of it.

Herb.co has a lot of informative articles on this topic.

Here is a quick peek of an article from 2018:

The weed survey showed cannabis use is more prevalent among those between 18 and 25 years old (29.6 percent) than people 26 to 34 (18.6 percent). More men (17.2 percent) than women (11.3 percent) said they use weed.

My initial reaction to that is those numbers are probably the bottom basement and the actual numbers are higher.

Agree on the prevalence of edibles especially since you can make the cannabutter in your crock pot and/or buy a reasonably priced processor to make some high quality cannabutter.

I know right.

I am a cash customer when I go out, no change, and sometimes that leads to extra good tipping which makes my experience even better.

I will say once cash is phased out our "Overlords" will be able to track nearly everything we buy.

In the not too distant future I think we will get to a point where the majority of the population uses/medicates with some form of cannabis.

We need to study it more but we already know it works so well to help so many different conditions.

After all everyone, it is a plant.

I’ve nothing against weed, but while for many years I smoked it daily, about 10 years ago I got to a point where I started not wanting to be in a fog all of the time. I very much enjoyed it when I did it, and it also helped tremendously with songwriting, but I just desired it less and less, which is weird that I did it a lot when it was illegal, but now that it’s becoming legal in many states I’m personally over the daily usage, and might only smoke it once in a blue moon.

Also, the stuff with its stronger strength these days makes me choke my head off, and then it’s a good 15 minutes before I can settle down from my coughing spell to finally relax and enjoy.

After I chilled out from smoking all the time Neil Young came around to saying that he did too because he wanted to after all these years experience life just as it is without being stoned all of the time. I completely understood what he was talking about. Also, I increasingly began to feel paranoid, and full of anxiety when smoking so much that it wasn’t so much fun anymore.
