And this from a guy who's team lost at home to... Wofford? Look, it's early, for every team. Freshmen need time and weight and conditioning. All these games are just pre-season until March rolls around. Putting the 4 freshmen in at the same time during this tourney, they showed alot of potential this early IMO. It's still Tubby ball, but it looks like he is letting them play a little more uptempo this early in the season than he usually does. They lost to two teams that were rated much higher than them because of returning players and I'm sure the plane ride will be quiet, but they will benefit from it more than playing walkovers. Are they a national championship team, no, IMO, but I think they could be a factor in the post-season. Go Big Blue!

Where did I say anything bad? They played into Memphis State's hands for 30 minutes, and then it was used against them in the final 10 minutes. UC is going to be a below average team this year, and I have said so at every turn. No need to bring them in to my UK observations. Here's the real problem. There is no doubt the FROSH will be inconsistent. What's the JR and SR excuse? Guys that are at the same development level as many of the Mid Major players that are praised for their experience are not getting it done. No way around that...

GT is not a UK fan, but he's also fair in his assessments.

I am not gonna start it up for the people under Tubbys' spell but his future in my opinion relies a lot on Patterson and Lucas. Of course I think Tubby knows that. Probably why he drives to West Virginia often to visit Patterson. When Patterson himself said "why didn't you just call?"

Please post a link to that......Please.

Memphis is tough and Calipari is a GREAT coach. This loss isn't the end of the world, especially since a few of our key players this year are freshman. If you think "conditioning" played a role you haven't looked at Morris. It didn't affect him very much until they stopped giving him the ball. He even looked a little quick on defense. Perry looked tired GUARDING THE POINT GUARD. Did anyone watch the game? Memphis moved the ball and MOVED OFF THE BALL and that's what beat KY. KY played very well until they stopped going to Morris and stopped moving around. I'm sick of the offense where 2 guys stand together on the wing, 2 stand together on the block, and when they do move it's jogging to get the ball 20 feet from the basket. They do this often and try to dictate tempo, but when you can't score it doesn't work. KY got outcoached, but at this point in the season Memphis is VERY GOOD!! UCLA is VERY GOOD. We knew coming in we were young and had a lot of work, but I'm not prepared to jump ship. I am very optomistic about this season.

They attacked the basket and Morris wasn't in foul trouble. Last year his fatness would have spent almost the entire game ont he bench.

Conditioning is NOT why we lost the game. Yes some players were tired. And it showed a little bit.

How could you contradict yourself like this?

Most of us knew that UK would struggle at times this year, this loss, or yesterday's were no real suprise. The Blue Blockers came out shortly after those "dominating" performance against Miami of Ohio, and that other powerhouse.

C-USA is still giving UK fits though, that's interesting.

The major problem is not recruiting or conditioning it is the fact that Kentucky players dont ever get better. Three years ago Tubby brought in a top recruiting class with Morris, Crawford, Rondo, and Bradley. In most cases players will get better each year. These players are still at the level that they were in high school. Tubby and his staff cant develop players. Look at Orbzut. Tubby and CO. has had a 7 footer since he was a freshman and he still isnt any better than day one. Bottom Line Players must get better to have a program that competes at a high level.

Morris is MUCH better than he was as a freshman.

First off, fatigue was a factor in the game getting that lopsided, but I dont feel like it was the determining factor. Memphis being more athletic than us was the main factor, especially when we have Thomas and Perry in the game together. Also Crawford and Bradley need to dedicate themselves to being better defenders and not getting beat.

As for the blue bockers comment, I said after both exhibition games that we have a long way to go and we cant judge our team until we play better competition. What I saw was potential, but we still have a long way to go. At this point Memphis is farther a long than we are. Im still excited about what is to come this season.

Well that's were we are at this point. A 10 loss season gets us excited and that's where UK is heading, 10 losses. I think Augger makes a great point. It always seems like were excited about a freshman yet they never get better.

I wish it would have been closer. I still think University of kentucky fans are in for a very entertaining year.

Morris is MUCH better than he was as a freshman.

Thats why he went from a legit first round pick out of high school to an undrafted player after a year at UK. Good Point.

Tubby Smith will never cheat.
