Scott County 64 Covington Catholic 61 (KHSAA Boys Sweet Sixteen® Round 1)

Featured Replies

Congrats to Scott County. They will roll into the finals!

Q3 killed CCH. Down 7 at the half.

Thelen and Mayer easily missed 7 shots within 3 feet. And the team missed at least 10 free throws in Q3.

Hold your head up Colonels. Great season and be proud of the comeback you made to keep it from being a beat down!

Most were. It seemed as if they assumed the game was over then started playing sloppy and careless.

PG Diablo Stewart fouled out before the collapse. Besides his ballhandling the Cards missed him at the foul line. But, don't take anything away from the Colonels rally, it was a total defensive avalanche.

Colonels got hot about the time I walked out the door..

Ironically, it seemed like half the Scott County fans were outside in a long line to buy tickets.

Would have been a shocker to them had CovCath pulled it off.

Covington Catholic was down 60-41 with 1:34 to play and cut it to a one point game at 60-59 in just 1:08 seconds that is pretty remarkable. If they could have pulled it off it would have had to went down as one of the greatest (if not the greatest) comebacks in Sweet 16 history.

CCH seemed afraid to shoot until they had too. Three of the players that helped them rally were on the bench the majority of the game. CCH coaches choice in players rotations were baffling.

Davin played the first 90 seconds of the game, does nothing wrong while others turn it over and make bad fouls, yet he is yanked and doesnt play until the final 2 minutes where he drains 2 threes.

Impressed with the CovCath moxie to almost climb out of a massive hole.

Congrats to the Cards.

Congrats to the Cards.

This is true, but I would have been more impressed if they would have played the first thirty minutes!!!!!!!

Par for the course for the rest of the year .. all year long the only player consistently willing to take a shot outside of the paint was Disken.

So sorry that anyone could feel justified in critizing CC's coaching decisions. They do a great job and the mentality they have ingrained should make parents, fans and alumni proud. We saw a never quit grit that is unparalled in almost making Sweet 16 history. Congrats Colonels.

What are the stats over the season on three point shooting? From the times I saw Cov Cath, I wouldn't want anyone other than Disken shooting threes.

Here is a link to the play by play for the fourth quarter if you want to see how the comeback almost happened:

Did Glenn Covington's 3 pointer at the end of the 3rd quarter bank into the basket?
