CincySportsFan Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Looking for some advice on the Sweet 16, and specifically, its ticket process. My son goes to Walton-Verona, and I told him I would take him to Rupp to watch them play on Wednesday. But, since I've never been to the Sweet 16 before, I'm not sure what the process is for the event. It's my understanding (won't know for sure until he comes home from school today), that we can get tickets through the school. I'm assuming that's a good thing, as everyone around you will be from the same fan base, correct? But, if they say those tickets are only available for the student section...what are my options? Online? At the door? How do I signify that I want to be on the same side/section as the other WV fans? Are there different prices, depending on your section? Or is it pretty much one price to get in the door? I know I read in another thread that a lot of people "move around", and that even though it's not general first-come, first-served seating, they end up sitting someplace other than what's on their ticket. (Didn't want to do that, only to have someone complain that they had paid extra for a particular seat.) Can anybody offer some help to this newb?
Randy Parker Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 You should be able to go to the Rupp ticket booth right outside the arena and tell them what you want.
CincySportsFan Posted March 4, 2019 Author Posted March 4, 2019 You should be able to go to the Rupp ticket booth right outside the arena and tell them what you want. Awesome. Thanks RP! As a side note...best place(s) to park?
NCBacon Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Awesome. Thanks RP! As a side note...best place(s) to park? The tickets sold at the school should be on the ends of the arena. I do not believe those tickets have a specific seat assigned and are first come first serve, but I could be wrong on that. Most of the lower arena seats on the side are sold to people who buy the whole set and are there for the whole tournament. If you look on ticketmaster there are a few lower arena corners available. I assume the tickets at the school will be the cheapest, then followed by tickets at the box office, and tickets on Ticketmaster the most expensive.
Randy Parker Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 As a side note...best place(s) to park? I'm a bad one to ask for that. I always vote across from Broadway Christian Church, even though it's a longer walk.
tcjkbt Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 You should be able to go to the Rupp ticket booth right outside the arena and tell them what you want. May be a line there.
FatNate Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Go early. The first session is always busy. Always seems to have the most traffic. Arrive around Rupp, by 11a, or even 1030a. This will give you plenty time to park and get tickets. Make a lap or two around the inside. Really take it in and relax and enjoy.
B-Ball-fan Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Awesome. Thanks RP! As a side note...best place(s) to park? If you want to avoid the the hefty parking prices at Rupp, which is double if you leave and come back for the night sessions, arrive early and look for spaces in the historical neighborhood of Short St. or 3rd St, and the surrounding streets that side of Broadway. If you're lucky there, which I was for 10 straight years, you can enter the back door of the Victorian Square Shops, and from there skywalk to Rupp. That back entrance is very handy if it's cold or raining. Also, you avoid waiting in a long line to get out of the parking area at Rupp.
Oldercoach Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Be sure to print out the program from home, as you will be a lost ball in high weeds; because you will not be able to buy a program there. I personally wnt to know the skinny on each team.
Jdhogg Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Congrats to your Bearcats, a Magical Season for those young men.
maysvilleky Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 At least at Mason County....Anyone could buy from the school, but they only have a certain quantity. So if they sell out you have to buy elsewhere. You can buy at Rupp. They have different ticket windows set up for each team, so you can buy with others from the same school. The other option is to buy via ticketmaster. Just find out what section the school sales are and see how close you can get. You can print off the ticket. IF WV wins the first game, you can buy tickets right after the game. But there will be a line form quickly, so you may want to consider getting in line before the end of the game if it looks like a pretty certain win.
Blake1978j Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Patterson road directly behind the high street lot is where I always park. I get to all UK home games 2 hrs before tip, and there are always free spots on the street there. I’ll be doing the same for the sweet16, hopefully this holds true
CincySportsFan Posted March 6, 2019 Author Posted March 6, 2019 Want to thank everyone for all the helpful hints! Was a very enjoyable afternoon down there today. (Granted, it was made even better by the fact the Bearcats won...but, that's another thread.) Had planned on trying to park on Patterson, like @Blake1978j had suggested. But, after sitting on Broadway for 3 straight lights with no more than a vehicle or two making it through, we decided to park beside the Christian Church. Not sure if it's the same one @Randy Parker mentioned or not. It was $10 and a super easy in and out. We'll probably park there again on Friday.
