Bairs not the first kid or last kid to leave Rose Hill but yet we are right there still in the mix and getting better every day. Who knows the Hill might get a transfer or two or three in the near future who just want to get back to there roots.

Or who knows, you may get one that would like to actually get an education in a christian atmosphere one day. Or learn about the 11th commandment.

That pretty much sums it up. Kyle is a great kid, good player but with or without him the outcome would have been the same.

Glad to Hear Mason looked good this early without a couple key players.I was out of town this weekend and couldnt attend but i will make it to the Fieldhouse on Tue for the Simon Kenton scrimmage at 5.

JV Game was ugly, Mason County was up 22-0 and 33-2; final was 39-10. Rose Hill terribly outmanned; #21 is smooth and #10's motor never stopped for Rose Hill, but they only dressed 7 for JV.

 

Varsity game was close early, Rose Hill actually led 11-8; forcing a couple of bad passes early. Mason County then went on a 24-3 run and led 32-14 after 12 minutes; led 44-23 at half and coasted to an 81-49 win. #45 for Rose Hill didn't like being bodied up by Mason's best defender (Pawsat) and after connecting to the jaw with his third elbow, was either ejected or was benched by the RH coach for the entire second half.

 

Some observations:

 

#1 for Rose Hill will run wild through the 16th region if no one ever calls palming. He was a one-man show for Rose Hill; I had him with 26 of their 49-point total. He will need a lot more help if Rose Hill is to make noise in the 16th this year. My understanding is that they are still a year or two away, and it showed tonight.

 

#52 for Rose Hill is a "project".

 

#45 for Rose Hill showed range, hitting the first basket of the game - a 3; but only had 3 free throws the rest of the way before being benched in the 2nd half.

 

Here were the points scored by Rose Hill:

 

#45 - 6 a 3, 3 FTs

#52 - 5 two baskets down low, 1 FT

#32 - 4 one basket, 2 FTs

# 1 - 26 10 baskets, 6 FTs

#23 - 5 5 FTs

#33 - 3 one 3-pointer

 

My unofficial scoring for Mason County:

 

Middleton - 7 ; two baskets and a 3-pointer

Setty - 13; three 3s and two 2s

Downing - 5; a basket and 3 FTs

Miller - 14; 4 baskets and 4 FTs

Browning - 9; 3 baskets and 3 FTs

King - 13; 5 baskets and 3 FTs

Scott - 9; a three and three 2s

Tolle - 2; one basket

Thompson - 3; one 3

Pawsat - 5; two buckets and 1 FT

 

That only comes to 80 points and Mason won 81-49; so I apologize to whoever I shorted. It might have been Tolle with a FT but I'm not sure.

 

Mason County observations:

 

For playing shorthanded (Stahl's arm still in a cast; Cox not dressed); they showed lots of team speed and a whole lot of depth. When Cox and Stahl get back, they can realistically go 10 deep without losing much.

 

D. Miller will be a force in the 10th this year; no surprise to anyone. Some of these guys are trying to get their basketball legs with FB season just completed, but you wouldn't know it.

 

MC's pressure forced a slew of turnovers; RH was just worn down by the middle of the second half.

 

Lots of athleticism on this team. Browning, Pawsat, Miller and company can run, jump and pass.

 

Nice balanced scoring by Mason County in their first game action of the year. Big difference between a team with a nice soph through senior mix, and a younger RH squad.

Will Nathan be ready by the 28th for St. Pat.

I will say this about the game, RH is young and not at Mason CO.'s level YET. They are young and need one or two to go with Jackson and Euton, especially anohter ball handler, but give them time and they will be a force and they will compete well in the 16th this year. Also with them adding football to their sports programs you will see more athletes move in their direction in the future. I think it is great to see this program in a short time be able to play the likes of Mason Co and in the KOB tounaments. It wasn't that long ago they were the area's wooping post and everyones senior night and used to loose to Boyd and Ashland worse than they lost to Mason last night. They just have to keep working

 

As far as Bair is concerned, best of luck to him and his unlce, great people period. Who knows with his stature and skills maybe he plays at the next level on the gridiron.

I agree:thumb: I saw Kyle this week at East during a tournament, saw his uncle as well, they both seem to be doing very well and are happy. He's a great kid, with a solid future athletically. So, why are we arguing about that?

I wasn't there so I cannot comment firsthand on whether Euton's actions werre first strike or retaliation. While I don't condone cheap shots, I certainly applaud a player protecting himself and staking out his own territory. This is particularly important for a freshman competing against upper classmen who seek to intimidate him. At this stage and from what I have been told by eyewitnesses, I'll assume that Euton was giving back a little of what he was taking and I find that refreshing and positive.

I regret my posts on Kyle and his decision to leave. I will in the future focus my posts on the loyal players who want to be a part of the Rose Hill program. They are a blessed and couragous group of fine young men and do not deserve to have anything detract from thier dedication and fine work.

 

Even though the score was not the outcome that most would have liked against Mason. The Royals saw first hand what a top program plays like, the speed of the game, and the composure that they will need to have to stay focused. Any night that you improve from is a good night. And the last time I checked there werent any Mason County's in the 16th region. The teams of this region are of equal quality and on any given night any one team can beat another team.

It was what it was a Preseason scrimmage.Dont count out RH out of anything yet . There young and talented it sounds like.

Most of these posts are completely off topic. What does Kyle Bair have to do with the Mason Co Rose Hill scrimmage? Lets focus on the present, not the past. Kyle is now playing basketball for a coach that played at the D-1 level after attending poor old East Carter. I would dare to say that a coach that has played at the D-1 level may have some connections to coaches in the college ranks. If you can play, they will find you. There is also much more stability in the programs of East Carter, Ashland, Rowan, or any school in the 16th region than at Rose Hill. Same players in the sytem each year from middle school up, with the exception of those who are persuaded to leave to attend a private school or receive a christian education.
