Wrong kind of cats!!

This WV Team has been dominating way before this coaching staff came around. The district Championships and Coaching awards are because of these boys, not the other way around! We will see what kind of Coach he is when this group graduates!

 

Sheesh. A team wins and it’s all players. A team loses and it’s all on the coaches. Can’t they both get a little credit?

I will add that a small school has made the finals only 4 times since. Carroll County 1988-1989. Defeated Oldham County both years in the District championship before losing to Colonels in the Regional final.

If memory serves me correct, wasn't the previous coach "run out of town" for not being able to win. Then, Brannen has come in and now, 3 straight district titles. Seems like maybe a good mix of coaching, plus talent.

It would appear that way, but we have had a couple of our guys play with this team during summer league and they have dominated at every level for the last decade. 4 of the 6 guys recognized last night as All District played on that summer squad! They are a fundamentally strong squad that play tough defense and great unselfish team ball. Brannon was handed a TEAM. Like I said, let's see what happens next year when he does not have these Sr's. It will be exactly like his 1st year there.

I think he probably built this team. In his first two years at Walton Verona, he did not make it out of the district tournament.

Curious, where did Miles come from and when did he get to WV?

I guess if you believe in a Coaching style that gives starting positions based on seniority(the last 2 seasons) allowing everyone to take a turn at team captain, and sitting Miles on his Sr Night to allow a donors son to start then he is a Great Coach, just wait until next season, he has built nothing at WV according to those close to the program!

Miles has family roots in Walton, played summer ball with these kids and moved to WV as a Freshman.

He did not build this team. Handed to him is the correct phrase. Coaches at the lower levels and during the AAU circuit built this team.

Would love to see Miles and WV make a run through region and into Rupp. Always fun to see big names step up on the biggest stages.

So the coach of the "summer squad" is to get the credit and not the high school coach? Sounds like someone is feeling left out.
