Tonight was my first time seeing Simon Kenton in person and I was very impressed with Sergent. College plans?

I've watched a few highlight reels on him. I really really think it's a shame that there's not really any way for a lineman to win the Mr. Football award so long as there's a moderately decent QB/RB/LB in the state. Hudson is the real deal. SUCH a great athlete.

 

As for the game outcome, this is more or less what I expected. Maybe someday the Pioneers will truly make a concerted effort to toughen up their schedule. Until then, it's basically going to continue to be a SK exit from the playoffs each time they find their first solid 6A competitor in the playoffs - same as any other team in northern Kentucky in the foreseeable future. I don't say that to grind an axe. It's just the way it is.

For SK it really had nothing to do with schedule they scrimmage X every year. The big thing was SK had to replace an entire OL and 8 WRs and QB from last year. I think every player stepped up and did great. Proud of the Pioneers.

CovCath is king of 859.

That was a statement made by Scott Co’s coach last week after the FD game. Next season Scott and Cov Cath will be both 5A which will be interesting. There is a chance of having two state champions from the previous year in the same class. 5A in the central/north will have Cov Cath, HHS, Scott Co, and FD.

 

Good luck to Scott Co next week. They appear to be hitting their stride at just the right time.

The first few years the kids get to pick is my understanding. There are rumors that Great Crossing’s Numbers will be really low their first few years. Low enough that they would just play JV and freshman level. They do enrollment in January so they’ll have a better idea then.

This was my second time watching both teams this year and this was the result I expected. One thing that impressed me so much about Scott County is that their linemen stay on their blocks well through the play. They put on a blocking clinic. You don’t see kids quitting on plays if the ball is not on their side of the field. Hudson recovered a fumble 10 yards upfield after the RB lost control. That was a prime example. He plays both ways and his energy and effort were strong late in the game.
