Was he 100% for this game after suffering a nasty ankle injury several weeks ago against Boone?

 

It was mentioned that Wabash College is recruiting Sergent and JJ Courtney. I believe that's an all-boys school. They play D3 and are very successful, this year beating Wittenberg in OT. I don't think they were invited to the D3 post-season, though.

 

Any D3 school that gets Courtney is going to get a steal. He doesn't have much height but he is really solid and hard to block.

SC had over 400 yards rushing.

 

That tells me Scott County's offense is clicking. Simon Kenton's run defense is very good. I thought Scott County would win but I did not expect Scott County to put up 56 points.

Almost always agree with you VOR. But not this time. Thought SK’s defense would not be able to handle the SC wing-T and the result was as expected. When BW put 525 yards on the Pioneers it was predictable what the Cardinals would be able to do. SK’s defense has been their achilles for at least the last 4 years.

Good point on the Beechwood rushing yardage being an indicator. However, Simon Kenton was allowing around 100 rushing yards a game on the season so their run defense was good this year. They were #11 in 6A in rushing yards allowed.

Have to agree with Older Coach on this one. Who was the best team SK played prior to Scott County? Highlands? They lost pretty handily to the Birds. Who was the Pioneer's best win? Campbell County? Scott County throttled the Camels and the Bluebirds. I'll give the Pioneers credit, they actually hung around longer than I thought they might.

SK outgained Highlands in that game with their 3rd string QB, a freshman, on the field for much of the game. That game was not as lopsided as the score might indicate.

No disrespect, but Campbell was not a good team. They did not beat anyone this year, just sayin. SK's defense was not that good IMO, I thought they played at a higher level against Scott County, just couldn't score with them, which resulted with the score getting away from them.

I guess it depends on your definition of good. They were in the top 15 of 6A this year, on the cusp of being in the top 10. They are one of the few teams in the last 2 years that Covington Catholic did not put a running clock on.

I'm not knocking on Campbell, I personally think Simon Kenton was not a very good 6A team as well. Who is the best team they beat? If it was a year for a Northern Ky team to go deep in the playoffs and maybe even the Championship game, this was the year. 6A is down in competition if you ask me. After the top 5, it goes downhill in a hurry. Agree to Disagree
