The Irish dodged the loss today, good thing with the way other games have looked to this point today.

Someone is going to be very happy to play the Irish come playoff time. I watched this game off and on this afternoon and they looked kinda bad every time I flipped over to their game, I guess they did just enough to beat a very mediocre Pitt team today.

Correct on all counts. The Irish dodged the proverbial bullet today. They need to get to the 2 or 3 spot to have any chance to advance in the "final four", because Alabama will make mincemeat out of them. To be fair, Alabama will make mincemeat out of just about anyone.

Pitt has a long history of knocking off Top 10 teams, even when they're not very good, so I'm just glad they survived this one. After the Kickoff return for TD to start the 2nd half, and the pick thrown by Book on the following drive, I really thought they were going to lose.

Several top 10 teams have looked pretty ordinary today...It happens.

Good point on all things. Pittsburgh is definitely known for ruining the party for higher ranked teams.

Yes Notre Dame is overrated but they have been able to win each game and with so many teams falling this season someone has to be in the top five.

Yeah, I've never seen a team have a let down game in college football before. This has to be a first...

Maybe it was just a let down, but we've seen this show before.

Agreed on all counts. By default, someone has to be in the playoffs when all is said and done.

No, I get it if you dislike the Irish, that's fine. We'll see what happens. Lots of let down games this week and last week, no? Teams love to be a spoiler, that's what makes these "mediocre" teams dangerous. If you recall, I alluded to it in another thread.

If they win out and play Alabama, they will get dismantled. So will the rest of the teams in the playoff if they play Bama.

I think the Irish, if they show up like they need to, can hang with the rest of the field. I could be wrong, but we'll see. If they don't show up, I'll be man enough to tell you they were overrated. I'll say the same for others that don't make a showing when they should.

Pittsburgh always seems to be a "trap" game for Notre Dame.

Has nothing to do with dislike, it's just during my life it seems as if no other team has been ranked higher before or during a season and finished lower than the Irish consistently.

If they win out and win the title, I'll tip my cap to them.

Overrated based on what? Their dismantling of a Michigan team who will beat OSU this year? Their beat down of Stanford? Their beat down of Virginia Tech in Virginia Tech. Which is one of the toughest environments at night much like being at Penn State.

This was the first game since they changed qbs that they struggled some and still won. They didnt lose to a mediocre team like some teams did this weekend and they definitely didnt get blown out to a mediocre team like OSU did last year to Iowa. Notre Dame did what a good team should do and thats win even when they didnt play well at all.
