St. Elmo's Steakhouse - Indianapolis

Featured Replies

Worth it or no?

How does it compare to Jeff Ruby's?

Planning on taking the little man to the Children's Museum in Indianapolis for his birthday (and one last trip as a family of three) at the end of November and making a weekend of it.

Have been told if we want to eat there, to make reservations soon.

Anyone been?

I think it’s great. Never been to Jeff Ruby’s so I can’t compare it, but I loved my meal at St. Elmo’s.

Try the shrimp cocktail. That cocktail sauce is ridiculous if you’re into horseradish at all.

You have to try the shrimp cocktail. It’s the only appetizer on the menu for a reason. The Navy bean soup is ridiculously good as well. As far as the steaks go, I think Ruby’s steaks are better. The steak was still fantastic though. I would definitely say it’s worth it.

I've heard the shrimp cocktail is phenomenal, but I don't do shrimp....:idunno: :lol2:

:lol2: Not allergic, and it's not even the taste. It's the texture I can't get past.

More for me! :lol2: We just went to Red Lobster the other night for endless shrimp and I promise I got my money's worth.

This coming from the person that doesn't do chocolate. That is wrong. Even if you are allergic. :D

Another question....Is it a place that is appropriate to bring a toddler into?

In fairness, I'm not big on sweets in general. :lol2:

One of my former co-workers raved about it. I never understood why someone would talk so highly of shrimp cocktail (and don't get me wrong, I love shrimp). Seeing several others saying the same on here. He must now have been lying.

If you have a toddler, I would suggest you go to Harry and Izzy's, which is owned and operated by the same people. St. Elmo's is an old traditional upscale steakhouse, while Harry and Izzy's is much more casual. Same shrimp cocktail (I know you don't care for this) and same steaks. Harry and Izzy's is right next door I believe.

I make it a point to visit Red Lobster once or twice every time they have the endless shrimp promotion. It's gotten awkward a few times.

I went there back in January. Didn't try a steak as we were really only there for the shrimp cocktail. It was phenomenal. It brings a kick with it.

It brings a kick with it.

That’s an extreme understatement.
