September 24, 20188 yr I don’t think this is such a crazy idea to think about... I mean if you’re going to get flagged for what 99.9% of people consider routine tackles, take his freakin’ head off and put him out of the game. They are both penalties, at least one of them may help you win the game. Exactly my conclusion too.
September 24, 20188 yr I think you're giving the die-hard football fans way too big a piece of the NFL pie. Fact is, diehards like yourself make up a very small portion of the NFL fan base. Here's what they're trying to protect against. They're trying to avoid a season where a GB vs. NE game is Kizer vs. Hoyer. They're trying to protect against a Saints/Falcons game of Bridgewater vs. Schaub. A Panthers/Seahawks game of Heinicke vs. Hundley. A Colts/Steelers game of Brissett vs. Dobbs. A Chargers/Titans matchup of Geno Smith vs. Blaine Gabbert. I think I just spit up in my mouth.
September 24, 20188 yr Author And to add to it. William Hayes of the Dolphins tore his ACL and is done for the year because he tried to twist his body so he didn't land on Derek Carr with his weight. William Hayes of Miami Dolphins tears ACL trying to avoid sack flag
September 24, 20188 yr I think I just spit up in my mouth. I know right? There's a lot of really bad QBs in the league. Outside of a game involving the Pats, I wouldn't waste my time with any of those other games. Also, what's the fastest growing segment of NFL fans? Women. All the women I know who are fans have the QB jersey. I don't think a one of them even knows who the backup QB on their team is. Women fans, as a whole, love the QB.

September 24, 20188 yr If the NFL insists on enforcing the tackling rule, then take away the flak jackets for the QB's.
September 25, 20188 yr To me the guys to blame are the ones that started to sue for CTE. They have a legit complaint (NFL knowing and not doing anything about it), but how many guys played years in the NFL and didn’t have CTE? If I was an owner I would have any player get a CAT scan before I signed them, and then after they retire. Compare the two and go from there. Of all The brains that have been examined posthumously, how many were of guys that played in the league and didn’t have some form of dementia? All John Q Public hears about is the guys that had brain damage. Good to great example is today. HOFer Tommy McDonald passes away today at the old age of 84. By all accounts he was one of the toughest guys to play wide receiver. He played his whole career without a face mask. Any word from his family about having his brain checked for CTE? Dude was 84, and played with a cheap plastic helmet. The league is getting soft bc the players who didn’t take care of their finances decided to hop on the CTE band wagon and sue. At some point everyone had to realize, it’s vioent game played by super strong, super fast, super aggressive guys.
September 25, 20188 yr Author How many games will Burfict be able to stay active when he comes back? He may stay active but will be fined a lot for roughing the passer probably.
September 25, 20188 yr YES you can't sack the QB, it's plain and simple just put the red practice jerseys on the quarterbacks. I don't understand and apparently linebackers and defensive lineman don't either.
September 25, 20188 yr Saw an interest tweet from Danny Kannell this morning that basically said why the NFL is losing ground to the NBA is the NBA is listening to the players. The NFL players are telling us these rules are whack. The QBs are telling us these rules are whack. The two guys most responsible for why these rules are here in the first place, Brady and Rodgers, are telling us these rules are whack. Why won’t the NFL listen? The helmet to helmet stuff I understand. This isn’t helmet to helmet, this is just good football.

I guarantee they'll revisit it in the off-season.

September 25, 20188 yr They can't just change a rule in the middle of the season. I guarantee they'll revisit it in the off-season. You can’t “change” a rule but you can simply stop calling it a penalty as frequently. The fact that the NFL keep doubling down on this rule with horrendous tweets explaining themselves, is embarrassing to the sport. Listen to the players.
