Out of respect for the young man and his family, i cannot comment any further. Discussing these types of issues in a public forum is somewhat distrustful and distasteful in my opinion. All info on this matter will eventually find its way to the streets in due time.

Gallatin County News says in this weeks paper that he is ineligible. That his parents rented an apartment in Warsaw. It also states that this decision is being appealed by Gallatin County to KHSAA.

I heard the Board of Control denied his appeal.

I have heard that they may be seeking an injunction against the KHSAA.

I think the KHSAA would have problems if they allowed kids to transfer to schools because they dont feel safe or fearful?

That would open the floodgates...

The argument that the young man is in fear at Holmes probably didn't have a lot of credibility with the KHSAA. He left Holmes AFTER one of his adversaries had been expelled/left Holmes. His other adversary graduated. The kid that bore the brunt of the attack is still there playing. The KHSAA also has a rule that says you cannot enroll at your new school PRIOR to moving to that district. That probably did not help his cause either.

 

I feel bad for the kid. He should have been at Holmes from day one and should still be at Holmes. Unfortunately, and I don't know why, some people either made bad decisions for him or let him make bad decisions. Sad case. Probably won't be the last.

Understand what you are saying and not sure that this kid is any angel but the mere fact that you would have to go to school each day concerned about adversaries and what they may or may not do to you would seem to me to be enough to allow a kid to transfer. The so called adversary who was expelled last year is apparently back and lets be honest Holmes has an entirely different climate to it then probably any other school in NKY.

1. I've never heard one bad word about Nate. I'll assume then that he's a good kid.

 

2. My point in the "adversary" discussion was to point out what the KHSAA may have looked at. At the time he left Holmes, the kid in question had left the school and it did not appear he was ever coming back. The KHSAA might look at that argument as a moot point , right? They have to look at the circumstances at the time of the transfer. At the time of the transfer, the other kid was not in the picture.

I will probably get a lot of flack from what I am going to say, but so be it.

 

The KHSAA should just let him play and not put up a big argument about it.

 

IMO: Kids should be able to transfer anywhere & anytime they want and be able to plays sports for their new school.

It was teenagers fighting. I'm assuming nobody else on this board had ever got in a fight when they were younger. Big Deal!! And I agree he should have been at Holmes from day on also. All the school surfin just comes back to haunt you.

I don't post much, but I do have to ask, have you ever been in or seen a fight at Holmes???? Having graduated from there when it was not nearly as rough as it is now, I would want no part of it. Moved out of the district on purpose to prevent my kids from going there.

Keep in mind that Nate was a starter at SK as a 9th/ grade , then chose to go back to Holmes , point is he was out of the district .

I may be confused but I thought the kid who left the school was actually on Nate's side of the fight? If the kid is scared to go to a school then he should be allowed to transfer and be able to play for whatever school he transfers to. Having already been to 2 other schools does hurt his cause but in this case he should not be penalized.
