Who is the 2nd best team in 1A on the west side of the bracket?

Featured Replies

Who is the 2nd best team in the west in 1A? Beechwood is obviously the #1 team, so tell us why you think the team you have chose is better than the others?

The clear 2 teams to me are Crittenden County and Campbellsville.

I think Campbellsville has alot of speed. Crittenden County has a prolific spread offense and been playing very well this season.

Not sure how the brackets are this year, but if these 3 teams don't knock each other out I would be very surprised.

I agree with Purple88 on those two teams. I just think Crittenden’s defense is probably a little better so I’ll go with the Rockets. We’ll have another good measuring stick this Friday against Union County to see more of where we stand.

There is no cross bracketing in 1A, so the western half of 1A is as follows...

District 1: Crittenden County, Fulton City, Fulton County, Russellville

District 2: Bethlehem, Campbellsville, Caverna, Fort Knox

District 3: Frankfort, Kentucky Country Day, Lou. Holy Cross

District 4: Beechwood, Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow

Campbellsville Defense ain’t bad...

SO

Week 3 (Regional Championship Week) I anticipate Crittenden County and Campbellsville will play to earn the chance to play Beechwood the next week. Should be great games!

There are some other good programs in the west like Russellville, KCD, and Holy Cross. But it's a pretty safe bet that your anticipated scenario will play out.

Beechwood moving up to 2A next year will really open things up in the west.

Your point on Beechwood moving up is a great one for the 1A folks!

Never said they were bad. Hopefully barring anything crazy happening with either team I will be having dinner at the last remaining Druthers before we meet up!

Im going to go with Lou Holy Cross as my dark horse.

I agree. I give just a slight edge to Campbellsville and Crittenden County right now.

In the years that I’ve been able to be knowledgeable about this and when my buddy played at Frankfort, District 3 and District 4 have been the most dominant. It’s been a lot of Beechwood but always Beechwood/Frankfort and recently KCD. I like Lou Holy Cross as well this year! If Frankfort can figure it out they could meet Beechwood again in the Region but I think they will take a loss to HC!

I like Crittenden County but Holy Cross may be the sleeping giant that way

Holy Cross may be best positioned to take full advantage of the Beechwood move to 2A.

However, this year I look for the Eagles of Campbellsville to win their second regional title in a row.

I love the Rockets but Campbellsville has a ton of speed and a quarterback to put them in position to make plays. As Sport of Kings points out, their defense isn’t bad either.

Rockets have to come to Campbellsville, already looking forward to that one.
