This is arguably the marquee game in the state this week, but will actually take place in Tennessee on the campus at Austin Peay University. Friday's game may conclude the series, at least for the time being. Both teams are unbeaten and playing at a high level. If this is indeed the end, hopefully these two great programs can send the series off on a high note. Mayfield won in 2015 and 2016, and the Redhounds came out on top last year. The last two games have been decided by a total of 4 points.

Where are all the Mayfield fans at this year? They have been a little quiet this year just beating up on everyone! Interested to hear their take on this game

Mayfield defense is a little suspect this year. They have given up almost 10 touchdowns of 50+ yards already. Offense has been firing on all cylinders all year long though. If they can make it one game without giving up a long touchdown I like them by 14

This should be a dandy like the past three years.

May be the best team either has fielded in this series.

I will say Mayfield 28-26.

The good news for Mayfield is Corbin is not really a home run type of Offense.

The bad news is this should be without a doubt the best Defense they have seen all year.

Defense isn't that good this year IMO. The run D so far is not very physical...couple small kids out there. So far Mayfield has been able to outscore what the other teams are putting up. Not sure that can last.

Corbin has actually been a big play offense this year, which may not bode well for the Hounds in this game. They have 3 receivers averaging over 20 yards per catch, although Estep's #1 target will be out with an injury for a while and have had around 15 plays of more than 50 yards each.

Beechwood get a pretty good job of taking that away and Corbin didn't do a very good job of taking what was open(the imtermediate routes) that game. The big pass plays came a little too easy and too often in the previous games, so I guess it's understandable that they were not real patient that game.

I expect Mayfield will be able to play over the top help on Steely's side and won't have to play the 2 deep safeties with Gosselin not being available. Corbin will have to establish the running game with the RB's and also throw over the middle some if they are going to win this game.

The big play has definitely hurt Mayfield. And a lot of the big plays have been because of poor tackling, which is atypical of Mayfield defenses. Luckily they score 5 or 6 touchdowns a game. Offensively, they have a handful of skill positions that can make big plays, so its hard to key on any one guy. I wasn't a fan of the quarterback last year just for consistency reasons. But he has shown much improvement on his accuracy. And while he isn't very mobile, his arm more than makes up for lack of mobility.

Don't know anything about Corbin, but have seen some clips on Hudl. Their QB obviously sticks out. He can throw the ball downfield, and has more speed and quickness (especially lateral quickness) than most of the players on the field.

I missed the first two games in the series, but made it last year. I'm glad Mayfield has scheduled this type of game. It's a shame they aren't closer to teams with talent like this Corbin squad. No one in WKY can give Mayfield the kind of challenge they need to prepare themselves for sub-state and finals. Really looking forward to watching this matchup.

I'll take Corbin! I really like this Estep kid. He is a good changer. Should be a dandy.

This is a big event. Kudos to those who set this game up

The mobile QB does kind of scare me. Mayfield usually doesn't do too well with that. I will say this, the winner is going to have to score more than they did last year (20 points).

I cannot imagine a 4 hour bus ride for a Friday night game. Physically exhausting to say the least. Fluids, nourishment, muscle inactivity and untold other logistical challenges. Project Corbin loses to Mayfield that is a lot fresher after only a 2 hour jaunt to Clarksville.

The first 2 years of this 4 year series Mayfield was the team that had to travel almost 4 hours and they won both of those games. Last year Corbin had to do the travelling and they came out on top. So while I do understand your thinking, for some odd reason it just hasn't worked out that way. Guess these 2 teams know how to travel.
