Bills CB Vontae Davis rumored to have retired at halftime

Featured Replies

Word on the street is that Vontae Davis told Bills teammates at halftime that he was done and quitting. Put on street clothes and left the stadium. No injury was reported. May have just retired at halftime.

His team mates were ripping him.

I need to know more...

I wouldn't want to play for that trash team either. Lol.

I would play for them every day of the week if I was getting paid the money he was going to get in his contract.

His contract paid him a guaranteed 5 million if he made the opening day roster. I guess he waited for the check to clear and then retired.

Le’Veon needs his agent.

Na, having a memory at 40 and being able to walk at 50 are much more important than whatever money he left on the table.

While I think it's petty he did it in the middle of the game, I think we're going to be seeing more and more guys calling it quits earlier and earlier. Football isn't worth the long-term health impact to a lot of guys.

I saw his statement, it was weak. I'm all for guys quitting while they are still healthy, but to walk out of the locker room at half time? Says a lot about his character, IMO.

Not a chance he gets to keep that money. That is not how it works.

Two sides to every story. Sometimes three sides.

I’m sure there will be a legal fight over the money then.

The first google search says I did says the Bills can recoup most of what is guaranteed. I can't imagine teams would allow players to sign contracts and have no safeguards in the event they walk out on their responsibilities. We would see that all the time if that were the case.

Buffalo Bills can recoup nearly all of Vontae Davis contract money following abrupt retirement - Buffalo Rumblings
