Bills CB Vontae Davis rumored to have retired at halftime

Featured Replies

The first google search says I did says the Bills can recoup most of what is guaranteed. I can't imagine teams would allow players to sign contracts and have no safeguards in the event they walk out on their responsibilities. We would see that all the time if that were the case.

Buffalo Bills can recoup nearly all of Vontae Davis contract money following abrupt retirement - Buffalo Rumblings

Looks like it wasn’t true he got a guaranteed 5 Million dollar opening day roster. The article didn’t even mention it.

Two sides to every story. Sometimes three sides.

Yep. And quitting at halftime of a game is a chump move, to put it nicely.

"Guaranteed" is whatever their contract defines it as. For instance, he gets hurt playing or at practice, I am sure he collects.

A local hospital is giving new employees a sign-on bonus of $20K. But they also have to stay around for a couple years to fully collect.

No way any of these NFL contracts have guaranteed money no matter what. You have to keep up your side of the deal which is to play if physically able to.

No argument there. I just ain’t mad at him for it.

He better apply for the COBRA insurance coverage.
