Doesn't Boyle have a player with high D-1 offers at running back that has been playing the whole season? I know Crawford is a great player and put up really good numbers throughout his career. Why has the running game struggled so much as other posters have stated when you still have a RB with high D1 offers back there?

 

Nothing personal against anyone, but Crawford is by far the best running back on the team you would have to watch the games to know where I’m Coming from.

I can't argue with this. Landen is by far the best athlete on the team but Crawford is a better RB.

Landon is a whole lot faster than Tanner and a better athlete but there’s some things that if they’re not born with that can’t be taught and Tanner Crawford was born those intangibles.

Wayne is not a bad team, but Boyle could be missing Bartleson and Crawford and should still be able to hang 40 on this Cardinal Defense.

I would have to agree Reese is probably the best athlete on the team, and the best running back that I’ve seen at the middle school level would like to seen him play RB at the high school level.

I’m guessing athlete but I am honestly not sure. I would imagine schools that recruit him will have him receiving punts and kickoffs regardless of the position they eventually put him in.

Landen has speed and lots of it. Nothing against him but he hasn’t developed the get the tough yards part of his game yet. Give him a crease though and you won’t catch him. He typically needs space to be successful and the OL hasn’t given him much space so far. Landen is 6’1 with a frame that could hold more muscle. He has tons of potential and that’s what big time schools look for. Crawford on the other hand is the more typical “Boyle County back”. He’s going to run right at the hole as hard as he can and get 3-4 yards almost every time. He rarely lets the first guy he makes contact with bring him down and if he gets past the second level he can break a long run. The best way I can describe a Tanner Crawford’s style is he runs similar to Matt Quinn and Casey McCoy in the early 2000s.

If Biggs had stayed this would certainly be his time to shine. That straight ahead, hit harder than you get hit style of runner would be a huge addition right now.

I think his replacement has done pretty well so far.

It doesn't matter who is running the ball right now until the Oline improves (which they are) it wont matter who is carrying the ball. The holes aren't there right now and when they are they close extremely fast. The only thing having crawford right now would do is allow for people to have more breaks. You cannot fix a blocking problem by inserting a new running back that is like having a baby to fix your marriage your not fixing the issue. They have had success on short throws and roll outs because it takes the pressure off Lanter allowing him to be successful. When you look at all these facts (D1 player at rb not excelling, rushing yards down from last year, roll outs and short throws) its easy to see that BC currently has a line issue not a RB issue.

He was released at end of July but was told to come back slowly. He had things the Trainer and Smith wanted him to do before he could return to practicing. He has now returned to full practicing as of last week.

He is more than ready to be playing full time and enjoying his senior season.
