If Williamsburg takes care of the ball I think they've got a real shot to pull off an upset here. Harlan really struggled offensively against Somerset and while they only gave up 14 points on a really wet, slick field Somerset missed a chip shot field goal, threw just a really bad interception in the end zone and was stopped inside the Dragons 20 yard line another time. On the last 2 I have to give some credit to the Harlan D but even with the bad conditions it could have easily been 31-7. That would lead me to believe that the game between the Jackets and Dragons will be very close. The only thing is Harlan did manage to block a punt and with Williamsburg's struggles on special teams coupled with the game being at Harlan I'll take the home team 34-21.

Welcome to the site Dragon2. Take it easy though--I'd hate to see your reaction if I'd picked a Jacket upset. Everyone has their opinion and most of them favor their own team--I don't have anything against your Dragons. I just feel they were fortunate to catch the Jumpers on a wet, sloppy field when there passing game was limited and that Somerset was on the edge of blowing the game open several times. The good thing for Somerset is they got the win and the home field for the first two rounds. The good thing for Harlan is (if both teams take care of business) they get a shot to come back over here and prove that it wasn't the playing conditions that held the Jumpers down but rather their defense. Hopefully we'll get to find out. Don't take things so personally.

You're right Harlan could have scored and won that ball game but we'll get to see the game again if both teams get by their first round opponents.

:thumb: Welcome fellow Dragonite! I'm glad to have another friendly poster to hold up the Dragon end of things on BGPs! Sometimes things get plenty hot in here, but after awhile you learn who the crazies are and who they are not. Vast majority are not, just real supporters of their teams. These guys who have welcomed you love thier team, but they are class acts as evidened by the welcome. I agree with the post, though in that Harlan had multiple opportunities also. Williamsburg is a dangerous team, after taking care of that business, hopefully our guys will get their chance to win the District Championship for the first time since 1999. Again welcome!

Thanks for the welcome all. I agree with DragonPappy all of you are class acts and seem to be very knowledgable. I hear you guys on not getting too upset. It's just that the Harlans & Cumberlands of the world don't ever get any respect. When I was growing up no one ever gave Cumberland a chance

either and they proved every one wrong, just ask Beechwood. I just want the kids to get the respect they have earned, and from some of the posts I have read its like we shouldn't even have shown up at Somerset the first time, and really no need to bother to come back because field condition and luck kept us in the first game.

 

Good luck to all 4 teams in district 7. Word to Someset....Don't overlook Cumberland. They have a very physical line and good speed and skill anjd are coming along very nicely:ylsuper:

Tell em D-2 that we are very tired of hearing that the only reason that the game last week was a 7-point game because of the wet field. Being a fellow Dragon I agree that we don't get the same respect as some teams on this site. But thats just me, I know from talking to friends from the Burg that they feel like we only beat them because they had some kids banged up. Guys that's just football kids will have some injury but an 18 point win is still 3 touchdown's the way I add anyway.The best thing is that it's friday and time for the old has been's to stop typing and let kids settle it. Go Big Green!!!

One last comment on that wet Somerset field...I believe I saw field cover(s) that had been removed. Correct me if I'm wrong Somerset folks.

Yep, you're exactly right Somerset had tarps to cover their field and think God they did b/c the field would look even worse right now than what it does. Good luck tonight Harlan!

There might be a select few from Burg who think injuries were the difference in the 1st game. Fact is Wburg ave. over 40 points in other 5 district games and scored 20 against Harlan. Sset ave. over 50 points in other district games and score 14 against Harlan. Harlan is very very very good defensively. Wburg only ran around 35 plays the 1st meeting. To have a chance Wburg needs to have 50 to 60 offensive plays. Should be a good crowd and a good game.
